Well, I fully agree with your comment. :)
BTW: I visited your blog earlier today and I just wanted to congratulate you on a well presented, and informative resource.

I too am looking to do the same.. After tinkering with both Mambo and long ago phpNuke, WordPress has blown me away with its simplicity and flare. It appears to be relatively "skinnable" tho I've not tried myself, yet. I'm just a bit concerned that the links are all ?page=xx, which, in all good SEO techniques, isn't the best way to do it. Mambo (confusing as heck) has a solution for this with "<a href="http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=deskbar&q=mambo+seo+friendly+links" rel="nofollow">SEO friendly links</a>" involving .htaccess and rewrite..

Anyhow, I just wanted to post that you don't need to have "/blog/" showing everywhere. My sample installation went very easily at http://wp.fingertrips.com/ and there's no trace of "blog" links.. I followed all default installation instructions (ftp put, unzip, modify config.php and run install.php!).

I'm curious to hear how your search ends up.. lots of luck.

Well, I use b2evolution ( http://b2evolution.net ) for my website ( http://www.hli.be ) exactly for that purpose... Each blog can be a complete website with its own layout and stay SEO friendly (without the /blog/ ;) ).
