Tiger - Disaster Averted

I took some time last night and checked out the important stuff and it doesn’t appear that I lost anything important. Phew. Just re-downloading my Macromedia apps and a bunch of other freeware and shareware applications. Saved mail messages, preferences and keychain passwords are all ok.

So, to get to the important stuff, Tiger is really nice. Seems faster in application launch times and the new mail is very nice looking. I need to still take time to really explore everything, but so far it’s really nice.

Tiger… Not Yet Impressed

I don’t know if I got a bad disk or what, but my Tiger install did not go well. First off the disk wouldn’t verify. I called the Apple store and they said to just skip verification. I then choose archive and install and it archived everything but failed on install. Now I was left with 1.9 gigs which isn’t enough space to do much with. I then had to boot into OS 9 to backup and burn stuff that I wanted to try and save. Thank goodness I still had that around and everyone MUST partition their drives. Without OS 9 on a different partition, I would have been screwed. I then had to do a clean install and it worked! Now I’m in 10.4 and it’s after midnight so I won’t get to play much. I hope to get all my old information back, especially mail messages and keychain information.

Tiger Day! Yea!

Well today is the day! Mac OSX 10.4 comes out today!! I’ll be off to Southdale or the Mall of America tonight to get my own copy. Plus I hear rumors of t-shirts!!

It’s Boat Season

I was driving by one of the approximately 20 lakes I pass by every day and I noticed some color. I then looked at a few other lakes and saw boat houses and boats popping up everywhere. I guess that means it’s boat season. Not that I have, or could afford, a boat, but it’s fun to look.

Favelet Suite - The Power of Bookmarkletts

If you don’t know what a bookmarklette is, it’s a piece of javascript that you bookmark and invoke on a page. They can do things like highlight text, show nofollow links, create Technorati tags, count words and more. Well I just found the coolest one yet! It’s called Favelete Suite. Once you invoke it, it brings up a box on the screen and lets you do things to the page. The most handy feature is the ruler. It allows you to draw on the website and figure out how tall or wide an area is.

Other features include:

April Snow Showers Bring…?

If April showers bring May flowers, then what do April snow showers bring? I guess we’ll find out next month as it snowed today. Nothing accumulating, but it was light snow showers. Seems kinda odd when we were just at 80 a few weeks ago, but that’s the wonderful thing about the weather.

Mac OS 10.4 - Tiger

Mac OS X

10.4 - Tiger

Mac OS X.4 (Tiger) is just days away and I’m getting all excited. I’m planing on going to the Apple store on Friday to get me a copy. My wife may come too to keep me company and tell me how crazy I am. ;)

With 200+ new features, I decided to name the top ones I’m most looking forward to.

Underwear Goes Inside the Pants

Have you ever heard of a song called Underwear Goes Inside the Pants by Lazyboy? It was in the iTunes videos so we watched it and it’s rather interesting. It’s brutally honest about how our country works. How prescription drugs are all over TV and how how we are in the ‘Great Obesity Epidemic of 2004′.

Goodbye 80s - Hello Jack?!

I hinted to it back in December, however I wasn’t quite right. It seems that the Twin Cities 80’s station, Mix 104.1, has switched formats and is now Jack FM. Instead of blasting 80’s music all the time they are now playing 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and todays music. Their website says “It’s like your iPod on shuffle”. I’ll have to tune in to see if that is true or not. Sorry 80’s fans, however 104.1 doesn’t seem to stay one format for long as it use to be a jazz station, an alternative station and now it used to be an 80s station.
