Apple’s Views on Bloggers

Interestingly enough, someone over at Apple has a sence of humor. In the new 10.4 Apple added a dictionary application that is pretty slick. However, if you search for ‘blog’ you get a rather interesting answer. :)

blog |bläg| noun a weblog : blogs run by twenty-something Americans with at least an unhealthy interest in computers. verb ( blogged, blogging) [ intrans. ] add new material to or regularly update a weblog. DERIVATIVES blogger noun ORIGIN shortening.

Hormel Twins Stadium

My wife and I went out to a game yesterday with some of her co-workers. We really went to get the bobble heads, which we did. We each ended up with a Jacque Jones bobble head. Which, by the way, are all over and going for around $30 dollars.

While waiting for the game to start we started talking about the new stadium proposal. Every sports team wants a new stadium and no taxpayer can see what’s wrong with the current one. Me included. However, we think that the Twins should get a Minnesota business to back them to build a stadium. Think about it…

Two WordPress Issues

Since updating to 1.5.1, I’ve run across two Wordpress issues.

First… my is blocking a lot of sites. I’m not sure how they are getting referred to my site, however I keep blocking them when they only visit once. My setting say that it should take four times, however something isn’t working right. Not sure what’s going on with that, however I hope an updated referrer karma is coming soon.

Second… my RSS keeps un-publishing! Good news for that though is that I found a fix! I originally found that error because I parse my RSS file to my homepage and I keep getting errors. The problem was that if I didn’t post in 24 hours, the RSS feed would go away. :(

Who will save Fireworks?

A few weeks ago we go the news, is to acquire . As the deal gets closer to completion, I’m reading reports that Adobe may just drop some of the beloved Macromedia applications.

Now I’m pretty sure that all Adobe cares about is . Seeing as Flash killed their application years ago. However, reports state that may replace GoLive. I guess that’s OK as I can’t use with those stupid site files. I like complete access to my files thank you!

Real Web Browser Security

No web browser is perfect. Hackers will always find new security holes and opportunities for the media to create press and scare you. What really makes the difference in browser security is the time it takes a company to fix the issues. Within a week of finding out about security related issues in , the team went to work to fix the new found issues.

“A proof of concept of the vulnerabilities was reported last weekend (Mother’s Day weekend) and Mozilla immediately took action to prevent active exploits via changes made to the Mozilla Update web service. We also posted a work around so users can further protect themselves by temporarily disabling automatic install from a web site.

WordPress 1.5.1

I upgraded my WordPress install and everything went smoothly as far as I can tell. Not sure what’s different or new, but I upgraded. Thanks to the new theme system, I don’t have to worry about loosing my theme or page edits. That’s a relief. If you find any bugs, let me know.

Subscription Music Stores

just released their music store and it’s the latest in the string of subscription based services. Subscription based services that I just don’t get. Why would you pay a monthly fee to RENT songs? Even states on their homepage “It is necessary to maintain a Napster subscription in order to continue access to songs downloaded through the Napster service.” Same idea goes for the new Yahoo Music Store and .

TextEdit - Possibly the Best App?

textEdit What’s the one application I probably can’t live without? Believe it or not, it’s TextEdit!

TextEdit is just a basic text program that comes pre-installed with Mac OSX. It use to be called SimpleText back in OS 9 and you may think it’s only a text application, however it’s much much more.

TextEdit can read almost any documents. Maybe not perfectly, but it comes in handy when or corrups a document. Just open it in TextEdit and you’ll probably be able to find content. It’ll also try to open just about anything! Sure, some documents may open up with a of gibberish, however most documents open up just fine.

iTunes Video Store

With iTunes 4.8 we are one step closer to the iTunes Video Store.

From MacRumors.com

One blog points out that Apple’s iTunes Music store now appears to offer the ability to sell videos as well as songs. This takes advantage of iTunes 4.8 new features allowing it to manage and play video files.

Several readers note that the latest version of iTunes supports video playback — which is a new feature in iTunes. Obviously, users are speculating about long-running thoughts of a video version of the iTunes Music Store and Video capable iPods.
