Bonjour for Wireless Mac & PC Printing

Apple Bonjour

As we slowly set up the office area in the new place, I wanted to hook my printer up to print wirelessly since we have two computers. Now my printer is nice, but it’s not a network printer and I didn’t spend the extra $30 or so to get a wireless router with a USB printing port, yet I knew that my Mac had options to share a printer over the network. So I turned on the printer sharing and went over to the PC (running Windows 2000) and it couldn’t find my printer. Then I remembered that Apple had released for Windows a few weeks back. A quick install and it found the printer no problem. Now the PC can print over the wireless network to the printer connected to my Mac. :D

Spam Karma 2.0 Installed

I’m testing out a new plugin called . I’ve been having good luck with so I thought I’d try the spam version. Hope it works well. :)

Hank Hill Would Be Proud

Yesterday we put together and fired up our gas grill. This is our first grill but not our first time at grilling. We got a nice Char-Broil grill to put out on our deck and it looks good and cooks great too. Now I just need to find some good grillin’ tips and recipes.

Skype Me! Free Internet Phone

So I just discovered . I’ve known about it for a while, I just never tired it before. Yesterday, fueled by the anger towards , my co-worker and I checked it out. Skype is a phone service that is free for you to call other Skype users over your computer. You use your built in mic and speakers to communicate or you can get a headset at the store which should make it much better. Our test lasted a half hour or so and we had quite a bit of fun. Not only can you chat back and forth you can also send files, instant message and conference call.

Tim McGraw is Bitter

I guess I would be too if someone took my life, my wife, my kids, my pride, the pool, the boat, my tools, my dreams, the dog and the cat.

Ok, so it’s just the new song from icon. It’s a bitter and fun song about a guy who looses everything and is forced to work at McDonalds to pay for his life and theirs. The new husband comes in and the former husband has to help him. It probably doesn’t sound so good when I’m explaining it but it is a fun song called “Do you want fries with that?icon“.

Mac OS X Tiger for Wordpress

dashboard

It’s gorgeous! I found a plug-in that converts the admin side of Wordpress into something much more Mac like! It’s so easy on the eyes and 10x better than the default.

You can get your Tiger plug-in over at www.orderedlist.com. It does require to look correctly though as it’s the only browser that fully supports all the CSS2 code that was used.

Pay for a Dashboard Widget?

I guess it’s gonna happen sooner or later, but the idea of paying for a widget seems wrong. These are little applications that give you quick access to things like a phone book, calculator, ftp client and whatever you can think of. They are CSS/Javascript/DHTML type of things and can be vary handy. So far I haven’t seen any pay ones, however a new widget site now has a checkout area! may be selling widgets soon. Their official launch isn’t until tomorrow, so I guess we have to wait a few more hours. I’m still wondering; what features would make a widget so good that it needs to be paid for?

Michael Jackson Not Guilty

Well the news it out. is not guilty. Go figure. I really haven’t been watching and I’m not really surprised. However he needs to start changing his life if he wants to stay out of jail. Some of the things I hear are just creepy. Next time he might not be so lucky. What? Next time? Yes, there will probably be a next time.

MnPass Reopens to General Traffic

Less than a month after it began, and a bunch of complaints later, the Minnesota Department of Transportation has re-open the lane on 394 to general traffic during non-rush hour times. This means that in the evenings and on weekends anyone will be allowed in the lanes; just like it used to be. The signs will say OPEN when they are free and clear for any vehicles.

It’s amazing to me that the lanes were restricted so much in the first place. Now I think we can get a much more accurate picture of how this new system will work.

Apple Mail with iCal and Address Book

I have an idea. Can anyone make a new Apple Mail application? Apple has the Open Source Project and it allows you use the tools that build some of Apples apps such as , Mail many other OS X applications. So, couldn’t you then just re-tool Mail and create a better version?

My idea comes from the project. If your not familiar with it, they created a version of Safari with many more features and better functionality. Now, why cant someone take Mail and do the same thing?
