Firefox 1.5 Mac Review

I’ve been running Firefox 1.5 all day on my iMac G5 and the update hasn’t disappointed me at all.

Here are a few of the new things I’ve noticed, good and bad.

  • Fancy installer (dmg) on the Mac.
  • Start up is slow the first time, but that’s because it’s upgrading everything. Be patient and let it do it’s thing.
  • It saw all my old extensions and themes and updated what it could. Remember, if an extension or theme doesn’t work with FF 1.5 it’s the developers fault, not Firefox’s fault. The developers have had more then enough time to get their extensions and themes ready.

Firefox 1.5 is out!

It’s been released!! Firefox 1.5!! Also a completely re-designed mozilla.com. Nice, very nice!

More details tomorrow!

Sage RSS Reader Gets Style

My favorite RSS reader is Sage, an extension for Firefox. Sage is built into my browser and integrates quite well. The only things I don’t like abut Sage is it’s look. Up until now I’ve been using Jon Hicks custom style sheet and icon, but I’ve found a new resource.

The other day I noticed that the Sage site had been re-designed. And, best of all, a style area had been added. There are now almost two dozen different style sheets that users can add to Sage to customize the look and feel of the feed reader. And, to make it better, each style sheet is easily downloadable and can be hooked up in seconds. Currently at work I’m running Plain and Green and at home I’m using Mozilla.

Welcome Winter? Maybe.

Winter has arrived for the third time this year. Yes, third time. It seems that after the last two times the temps skyrocketed and we lost our snow. So we are trying again.

Yesterday it was in the low 50s and it rained and even thundered all day long. Today it’s around 20 and snowing. I hope we keep the snow this time and winter. Being a Minnesotan, 50 in November is just wrong, but it seems to be happing more and more.

I’m hoping for temps in the 20 and snow snow snow! Plus, it puts everyone in the Christmas mood. :D

Create RSS Subscription Buttons

I’m now looking for feedback on my Feed Button Maker. Try it out and let me know what works, what doesn’t, what needs to be added and so forth.

I know there are may more feed services out there that I don’t have buttons for. Just point me in the right direction and I’ll work on getting new buttons added.

I also have a few features up my sleeve that I haven’t had time to put together. So keep checking back. :)

St Louis, Arkansas and Back

We are back and ever so happy to be. Our vacation was good but it really makes you like being home when you get back.

St. Louis is a great town. We didn’t spend much time in the actual city, but rather an hour outside. However we did make it in on a few occasions.

First, the St. Louis Zoo. This zoo is excellent. It has to be the best zoo I’ve been to and it’s completely free! It sure beats the Minnesota Zoo in all aspects.

Happy Turkey Day!

Happy Turkey Day to everyone! I’ll be out on vacation the week of Thanksgiving so I probably won’t be posting much. However, I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and a good start to the holiday shopping season. ;)

Websites to Note

URL FileI have this habit of dragging URLs to my desktop and saving them for a later time. I always mean to post about them or do something with them. What I end up with is a mess of URL files on my desktop.

So, today, I’m posting information about all the URLs I have. This will allow me to see my desktop picture and give you some interesting sites to check out.

1) boakes.org/autometa - Wordpress plugin that automatically tags your post with what it thinks are relevant tags. I just installed it and this post will be my first test with it.

Feed Button Maker Beta

I have created a Feed Subscription Button Maker. Currently it’s in beta while I work out some bugs and test it. However, since I’ll be out of town the week of Thanksgiving, this is just a quiet launch. I don’t want to get to much exposure on it when I’m not around to answer questions or read feedback.

You are free to check it out and see what you think. It’ll probably get better after Thanksgiving as I’ll get more time to work on it. :)

Minnesota Winter Prediction

We are currently getting our first shot of winter. With and inch or two of snow last night, whipping winds and temps falling though the 20’s, I think it’s safe to say that winter has arrived!

Now I’m not meteorologist, but I do have some predictions this winter. I predict it’ll be either a) very very snowy or b) very very cold.
