New Yahoo Maps are Better Than Google!

A beta version of the new Yahoo Maps is out. Not only is it good looking, it’s feature rich!

It’s built with Flash and Ajax (I believe) and has all the pretty map images that Google Maps has and it has the ability to zoom in and out and drag around without reloading the page. But wait there is more! Yahoo Maps Beta can add traffic information, speed and road construction details. It ties directly into Yahoo Local to show you where business’ are. Has a great mini map in the upper right so that you can zoom around much faster. Yahoo even enables you to rollover parts of directions and the road highlights on the map.

Powerpoint Tutorial - Bad Presentation

Everyone is making PowerPoint presentations anymore and some are pretty good. Others, however, have some major issues.

Recently Bill Gates gave a presentation that was done in PowerPoint and he’s a great example of what not to do. That is, unless you want a bad presentation.

Here is what to do to have a bad PowerPoint presentation.

  • Use a busy background. Who cares if half the room can’t read the text?
  • Don’t show the company logo. It’s not about re-enforcing the brand.
  • Clip art rocks! Use as much as possible!

Too Cool for Internet Explorer

I keep seeing some banners around that say “” and they give me a worm fuzzy feeling. :)

Well, I just found out that it’s not just one or two people, it’s a club! Basically, if you design a really cool site and it looks bad in Internet Explorer, just add this little banner. Or, if your site looks fine in IE and you just want to promote the use of Internet Explorer alternatives, this works too.

Very cool!

Header Tags Without the Extra Space

Have you ever put in a header tag (h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6) and struggle to get rid of the extra space underneath the tag? I do this all the time and I finally found the cure today. To get a header tag to be inline with the rest of the HTML code, just add display:inline to your stylesheet. It’s a simple as that. Now your header tag won’t have all that extra space after it and it can blend in nicely.
