Social Bookmark Wordpress Plugin

Social Bookmark Links is a plugin that has the same functionality as the Social Bookmark Link Creator. I’m just trying to automate it a little more and make it tie into Wordpress. Now I’m just learning how Wordpress plugins work. This is a new area for me and I’m not guaranteeing anything. It worked for me and it should for you.

MidnightFox is Released!

The first public version of MidnightFox has been released!

You can grab your copy from Mozilla’s official addon site.

Keep in mind this is a dark, yet usable, theme. It’s not for those don’t like black. ;) It’s also not finished. This is only the first public release. However, it’s got quite a lot done as I’ve learned a lot from iPox.

Enjoy and let me now what you think. :)

MidnightFox v0.10

PS: It’s dark, so I’m sure there are a lot of extension text issues or something. I tried fixing them all but they keep coming back.

Addicted to the Web 2.0

It’s true, I’m addicted to the Web 2.0. From social bookmarking sites to online word processors and web software that just works, there is no end in site to what I can accomplish online!

What is the Web 2.0? Well, it’s the idea of sharing information and having web sites act more like applications and less like static content. For example, Yahoo Mail is Web 1.0. Every time you click on a link or button, the whole window refreshes. Gmail is Web 2.0 were it acts more like a desktop application. Everything happens much like your Outlook or Thunderbird. Now Yahoo does have a Web 2.0 version coming, but it’s not available yet for us regular folk.

MidnightFox is Coming

I’m currently working on a new Firefox theme. This time, it’s dark.

MidnightFox is based on iPox and has some similarities. However, I’m working on theming everything to bring a nice, dark experience to Firefox. Don’t worry though, it’s not too dark. There is color in the buttons and were it seems necessary.

I’m hoping to put out the first release of MidnightFox later this week, but that’s only if all goes well.

Replacing a Powerbook Hard Drive

The new hard drive for our Powerbook 667 arrived Saturday along with a few special tools. In no time I had the Powerbook back up and running.

It wasn’t that hard actually. Especially after watching one of Other World Computing’s videos. I just had to remove a few screws (with a special Torx Screwdriver) and I managed to get everything taken apart. The new drive fit right in and then I just replaced what screws I removed. Done!

After that, I installed the OS and the Powerbook was back to operational! Added a few applications and it was perfect.

Style Mozilla Lightning

I was excited to hear about Mozilla’s latest extension called Lightning. It is a calendar extension that is nicely integrated into Thunderbird.

Granted this is version 0.1, and there are a lot of bugs, but it is quite nice. A great start to a much needed Thunderbird addon.

One thing that bugged me though was the look. Just seemed like it could be cleaner. So I took a few minutes, dug though the extension and found some CSS that allowed me to give the calendars a nicer, more enjoyable, look and feel.

Email Comment Notifications

I’ve just installed a new plugin to allow you to follow post comments via email.

After commenting on some posts, then never hearing back from the people again, I wonder if the even remember they asked me a question. So I got the Subscribe to Comments plugin.

Now, just enter in your email address, click the subscribe button and you’ll be notified whenever someone adds to a new comment to the post you are subscribed to.

Please note, I just installed it and I’m pretty sure it’s working right. But it hasn’t been fully tested. If you find issues with it, contact me.

Our Powerbook is in a Coma

It happened Sunday night around 7:45pm. My My wife’s Powerbook 667 slipped into a coma.

It will start up a little, but stops at a blue screen. Never loading the desktop. Even disk utility can’t help.

I was able to hook it up to life support though. Via target disk mode, my iMac was able to read the hard drive. We backed up all the data and did all we could. It’s no use though, we can’t even erase the hard drive in the Powerbook.

iPox Wiki

I’ve created an iPox wiki to hopefully help me keep track of things that still need to be done.  Not only can I make the lists, but so can you.  It’s open to the public right now and we’ll see how that goes.  :)

Playing with Apple’s Photo Booth

Apple's Photo Booth LogoOne of my new applications is Photo Booth from Apple. It’s a simple application that ties into my iSight web camera and takes still pictures. You can also select filters and take pictures that look interesting. :)

Below is some of my fun with Photo Booth this morning. Granted, I think I need better lighting.
