I had similar feelings. I didn't mind the gayness of it (well, the tent scene was perhaps a bit much) but I did find it to be very slow. I thought the scenery and the music and the acting were excellent, but fundamentally there's just not that much to the story and it really drags on quite long. In general, I found a lot of this year's Oscar contenders to be slow - e.g.: "Good night and good luck", "Munich", and "Capote". I was quite glad that "Crash" beat it out for the Oscar, as I thought it was a far more interesting movie.

For a shorter and arguably more entertaining version of "Brokeback Mountain", see http://destinationdaniel.smugmug.com/gallery/1213678/1/56764726

I, personally, thought Brokeback Moutain was amazing; right up there with The Notebook. But I was commenting in response to his thoughts on the pace of the movie. Not about "the scenery, the acting, the music, [and] the plot". It would have been a waste of space to do so.

Wow, that's great input Richard. How about some reason on why it's good rather than the 'you suck' attitude? The scenery was nice but that doesn't make a movie. Acting was good. Plot was uneventful in my mind. You can disagree but I'd rather have constructive criticism rather than a pointless comment that doesn't do any good.

You two are really something else, talking about the pace of the movie without one mention of the scenery, the acting, the music, the plot. Your blog would rock anybody's a** to sleep. You are two hopeless human beings that should never go to another movie. To call this movie horrible is pathetic.

If you're not into romance, chick-flicks, or similllar movies it will surely be one of the most boring movies you ever see. But you have to understand it's an adaptation of a book... a romance novel that doesn't have action or suspense or blood and guts (well. duh.) I thought the end was slow the first time I saw it, too (though I did see it at midnight). I saw it a second time and felt it moved at a much quicker pace.

Perhaps you should too?
