I didn't mind the gayness of it (well, the tent scene was perhaps a bit much) but I did find it to be very slow. I thought the scenery and the music and the acting were excellent, but fundamentally there's just not that much to the story and it really drags on quite long. In general, I found a lot of this year's Oscar contenders to be slow - e.g.: "Good night and good luck", "Munich", and "Capote". I was quite glad that "Crash" beat it out for the Oscar, as I thought it was a far more interesting movie. How about some reason on why it's good rather than the 'you suck' attitude? The scenery was nice but that doesn't make a movie. Acting was good. Plot was uneventful in my mind. But you have to understand it's an adaptation of a book... a romance novel that doesn't have action or suspense or blood and guts (well. duh.) I thought the end was slow the first time I saw it, too (though I did see it at midnight). I saw it a second time and felt it moved at a much quicker pace. Perhaps you should too?
