Correo Mail - Part Mail.app, Thunderbird & Incomplete

The other day Hawk Wings tipped us off about a new mail application that is coming to the Mac. It’s called Correo and it’s sound like it has a lot of potential.

Think of it like Camino, the cousin of Firefox that’s Gecko powered, but Mac pretty. Well Correo is the same thing. Gecko powered like Thunderbird, but Mac pretty.

The current version is 0.1 and it’s off to a great start. It already includes POP & IMAP support, multiple accounts, two or three pained layouts, MacOSX spell check, excellent icons and really, all the basics.

There are quite a few things missing though like the ability to mark a message unread, flags, BCC and some other things. But, lets get real, it’s only version 0.1!

On the roadmap are rich text editing, keychain support, address book integration, threaded messages, tabs and plugins (not necessarily Thunderbird extensions). So, there is a lot to look forward to.

Overall, I’m very impressed with the current Correo 0.1 version and I’m going to watch this as it grows. Some features I’d like to see include labels, automatic attachment reminders and iCal integration.

Good work Correo team and keep it up!
