Granted, it wasn’t designed especially for Valentines day, but it works. PinkHope is actually a theme to help spread breast cancer awareness. It just happens to be a good Valentines Day theme too.

This year for Christmas, my wife got me an iPod Touch! This little device is extremely cool and I’m completely addicted.

I now have an iPod that plays videos and Handbrake will become my new friend. It also has a calendar built in with two way syncing with iCal. Cool!

And lets not forget Safari. I sit at home on it and surf the net. I’ve already spend hours looking up iPod Touch (or iPhone) web apps. I just wish there was a way to download them and use them offline. I guess I’ll have to wait until February when Apple should start letting developers build offline apps for the iPod Touch.

I’ve also been looking for work arounds. I wanted a text application and found a great tip where I can create an address book entry and use that. So I now have A List in my address book and it just contains one notes field where I put my shopping list or whatever else I need.

I also tried jumping on other people/companies wireless networks. As my wife drove through town, I asked her to slow down when the iPod started picking up an open wireless network. I do have to say that many more people password protect their networks than I thought. I guess that’s a good thing though.

Christmas was very good to me this year and I’m extremely happy with all gifts. I hope yours was too.

However, I just wanted to take a moment and thank all the readers and visitors to Blog on a Stick. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and all that jazz!

I’ve no formal update plans for Tinseltown, so I’m asking you. What would you like to see updated?

I’ve been running Tinseltown for a few days and there are no major issues that I see. But you may be seeing something that I’m overlooking. So please do share.

Ohh and for those running Firefox 3 beta, Tinseltown probably won’t be available this year. Sorry, but Firefox 3 is just not far enough along for me to start theming it. I may try it out and see how it works though if there is interest.

If you’d like to dress up iPox for Halloween here’s how.

1. Make sure you have iPox installed and active.
2. Install Stylish (or Greasemonkey) and ensure that’s active too. It’s ready to go if you see the icon in the lower right corner of your browser.
3. Then head over to the UserStyles page and click the install button.

That’s it, your iPox should be ready for Halloween!

To un-install, you know when November hits, just open Stylish and un-check the iPox Halloween Costume.

All desktops are 1440 x 900 as that’s what my iMac screen is set to. That should be big enough for most and it should shrink down nicely too for those with smaller screens.

I was presently surprised this morning to see that HalloFF has been approved and made live on the Mozilla Addon’s site. I hadn’t gotten notification so I’m not sure when it went live. None the less, HalloFF fans rejoice!

HalloFF is my MidnightFox mod that brings Jack Skellington into the mix. It features blacks, oranges and a bit of green. Originally created just for Halloween, but some users want to have it all year around.

Bose SoundDock Hosted on Zooomr

After I worked out a few issues with my iPod, it now works great and I love it. I’m all for filling the house with my music and the SoundDock is great as it also charges my iPod.

Other cool gifts included a new watch, the Muppet Show season one, Shaun of the Dead and iTunes gift cards to name a few!

My wife also got a cool iPod accessory, but I’m waiting for her to post about that.

I hope everyone had a good Christmas / Holiday!

1. Sno - This has been around for a while but has nice falling flakes on your screen.
2. MacLampsX - One of my long time favorites as it adds customizable lights to the sides of your screen. Very festive.
3. Snjor - A new snowing app that has little snow orbs that look quite nice. It’s suppose to collect on windows too but doesn’t for me.
4. Snowy - I’m still figuring out this one. It creates basic snowflakes that fall but you also get little snowmen that appear on the screen and penguins that walk around. There are also a few trees and snow on the bottom of your screen.
5. Holiday Lights - This little app puts holiday lights around individual windows. Granted, they need to be Cocoa (I think that’s right) apps like Safari. It won’t work around Firefox windows.
6. Mac Lights - This is another app to put Christmas lights on your desktop. The lights are quite big but do look pretty. Not as many options as MacLampsX though.
7. SantaSnaps - This is a clone of PhotoBooth but adds fun Christmas elements.
8. MacGiftWrap - Nicely wraps up your desktop folders with ribbon and bows.

Lets not forget the Present Growl style and Tinseltown, the Christmas Firefox theme too.

Brad Paisley and the Kung Pao Buckaroos are serving up a holiday song where they are trying to sing completely non offensive and politically correct holiday songs. However, their luck isn’t so good. In fact, I think it’s the first Christmas song I’ve heard that bleeps out words, and it’s not swear words.

Here is a quick rundown:

• Can’t say Christmas, have to say Holiday.
• Can’t say white, have to say Caucasian.
• Can’t say Orient, have to say Asia.
• Can’t say drummer ’cause that will offend real musicians.
• Can’t say small ’cause that will offend short people.
• Can’t say new ’cause that will offend old people.
• Can’t say ho as you might offend some women.

So basically they can’t sing anything.

Mozilla reports that Tinseltown has gotten over 35,000 downloads in just 5 days. Checking out the comments left on the Mozilla page, there are no major issues (except for some flavors of Linux which I’m working on) and a very few minor issues. Here are a few comments:

Tinseltown has also been posted to Lifehacker.com which is a very popular computer & productivity blog. The exposure from Lifehacker has rippled across the internet much faster than most other areas of exposure. Checking Technorati, I’m seeing more and more Tinsseltown posts. It’s fun to read the posts and get a feel for what others think of the theme.

It’s hard to believe that last year my idea of a Christmas Firefox theme was to put a background image behind the toolbar. My theme knowledge was non-existent. Fast forward one year and Tinseltown is by far my most complete, and possibly best looking, theme that I’ve created.

I’m very proud of some of the features and imagery in Tinseltown. It all started with the want to create a holiday theme and all fell into place in a very short time. WatiWorks was nice enough to let me use some of their free icons for the theme too and they make it look even better!

I’m very pleased to be releasing Tinseltown and I hope everyone enjoys it half as much as I do.

Disney is re-releasing the movie in select theaters across the country on October 20th. I haven’t found out where it’s playing in Minneapolis yet, but, if it is, I’ll be there!

If you haven’t seen the Nightmare Before Christmas it’s a claymation movie where Jack Skellington, the Halloween King, discovers Christmas and tries to take over Santa’s job. However, it’s a disaster.

Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my all time favorite movies and I’m very excited to see the 3D version. To get the party started a little early, I created a few desktop wallpapers from the movie poster.

The Nightmare Before Christmas 3D desktop pictures are 1680×1050 and about 300k each.
