News, accessories and information about my Apple iPod.

Downloaded: Daniel Powter

Daniel_Powter-125x125I just downloaded Daniel Powter’s self titled album. After getting addicted to Bad Day I thought the rest of the album had to be worth a look.

Daniel Powter’s CD is not something I’d usually consider myself liking. He has a high pitched voice at times and he reminds me of Prince or Michael Jackson. However, I’m very much enjoying the album. There is something addicting and cool about it.

Definitely work a look and a great addition to my iPod!

Track List

Not Ready To Make Nice : Dixie Chicks

Dixie Chicks 2006Listening to the radio yesterday I heard a great new song that I was certain was the Dixie Chicks. So I looked up the website this morning and Not Ready To Make Nice is the first single of their new album Taking the Long Way.

Being such a good song I immediately opened the iTunes Music Store to buy it and found nothing. I then did a Google search and found a radio station that was asking it’s viewers if they liked it or not. To my surprise the sound clip was the entire song! So I quickly downloaded it and added it to my iPod.

iMac First Impressions

It’s been a few days and I’ve had a little time to play. Overall I’m very happy with my new iMac. It’s so sweet.

New features that I acquired:
iSight Web Cam
Mighty Mouse
DVD Burner
Bluetooth
Front Row (with remote)
All iLife 06 Applications
and so much power!

I’ve only just began to play with my new iMac but I have found two annoyances; both software based. One, Front Row doesn’t work with my iPod. Two, iSight looks better in third party applications than Apple applications. Maybe that’s just a fluke.

Portable Applications

Myself, I haven’t tired this, but it looks cool! Portable applications are just applications that store all your preferences and related files together. It could be on a USB drive, Zip disk or iPod. Perfect for taking your bookmarks, mail and setting with you when you go.

Sounds like a great idea to me. Use portable Thunderbird and you’ll always have your inbox with you. Use portable Firefox and have your bookmarks and your setting with you at all times. At the library, school, hotel or moms house!

The applications just run off your external media and save all program files there too.

iPod Hi-Fi Unveiled!

At Apple’s special even today they updated the Mac Mini and unveiled the iPod Hi-Fi.

The iPod Hi-Fi is not a new iPod but rather a home stereo system. Basically it’s a big set of speakers. ;) No radio or CD player (that’s so 2000) just great sound (surround sound) in a simplistic design with a built in iPod dock and remote. However for $350 I think I’ll pass for now. Maybe there is a iPod Hi-Fi mini coming out. Ha ha.

Apple Special Event Invite

It’s all the buzz, those Apple Special Event Invites. Check out this one I found.

All In The Family - Apple Invite

Pretty swanky isn’t it!!

Ok, I’ll admit it, I created it in Fireworks this morning. Actually I created it for a contest over at TUAW.com. I may just win a cup! :D

Click on it for a bigger version that you can actually read.

My idea was to be generic of course, yet hint that it’s another iPod event. A growing iPod family? An upgrade? Wireless iPods? Who knows. Maybe the event has to do with AppleWorks, no one really knows.

iTunes Billion Song Countdown w/Prizes

It’s that time again, time when iTunes counts down (or up) to a record. This time it’s for 1 billion legally downloaded songs.

Better yet, Apple is giving prizes to at every 100,000th song mark. The lucky downloaders will receive a prize package featuring a black 4GB iPod nano and a $100 iTunes Music Card.

If you get the 1 billionth song you get 20-inch iMac, 10 60GB iPods, and a $10,000 iTunes Music Card!! I’d love that!

So get downloading and maybe you’ll win an iPod or the grand prize!! :D

Johnnie Walker iPod Case

I got my free Johnnie Walker iPod case in the mail today!

Looks pretty good on my iPod and even came with a screen protector.  I’m interested to see if it’s dockable, but I doubt it.

Great free advertising scheme by the way. ;)

Cool Free iPod Case, TwistClip and iShade

lajo.biz has lots of iPod cases to choose from at reasonably good prices.  However now, they are free!

You get to choose from one of may cool designs, you get a free TwistClip belt clip and a free iShade screen protector.

The only thing that isn’t free is the shipping.  That’s about $8.  I think that for an iPod case and the two accessories $8 isn’t bad at all!

I ordered my Phosphorus designed case this morning and I’m eagerly awaiting it’s arrival!!

If you want a new iPod case at a great price, check out www.lajo.biz

Intel MacBook Pro and iMac

Apple did it again. Another MacWorld with HUGE announcements. The Intel Mac is shipping in iMac and MacBook Pro models. (ok so MacBook pro won’t ship until February but close enough) MacBook Pro is replacing the PowerBook and is said to be 4 to 5x times faster!

Also announced is iLife 06 with iWeb and lots of RSS and Podcast integration, the official FM transmitter for the iPod and minor updates to iWork.

Good job Steve. Can’t wait to play with an Intel machine. :D
