Hail Covers the Ground Like Snow

It’s kind of hard to see, but this was taken on our camera phone in Cologne Minnesota today. The white areas are hail. Piles of hail. Yards were covered, roofs were covered and this intersection had a foot of hail piled up.

Hail Piles

We had driven though part of this storm with zero visibility from heavy rain and lots of hail. Not as much as Cologne had gotten though. I think they got the brunt of the storm.

My car didn’t look damaged, but I haven’t looked that closely yet. It was one heck of a storm and there are still more coming.

Poseidon at the IMAX

PoseidonOn Saturday we checked out Poseidon, not just at the movie theater but at the IMAX.

IMAX movies are presented on a 3 story tall screen with a six-channel digital sound system that can’t be found anywhere else. It uses film which is 10x larger than standard movie theaters to bring incredible sharpness and clarity to the screen. Everything is so big, you can feel like you’re right there!

The IMAX experience was great. I thought the sound was much better than in a regular movie theater and the picture was great too. I had always wanted to see a hollywood movie in the IMAX screen and this was amazing.

Brokeback Mountain is Horrible

Brokeback Mountain

We just finished watching Brokeback Mountain and it’s one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen.

I can get over the gay love story but what I can’t get over is it’s a SLOW movie that goes nowhere. Ten minutes into the movie and not one word was spoken. And it never picks up.

We kept hoping it’d go somewhere, or it’d get better, but it never did. Finally about two hours later it ended. YEA! The End!!!

I honestly don’t see what anyone sees in this movie. It’s a major snoozer and a lame a** movie. Definitely not worth the rent.

iPod Hi-Fi Unveiled!

At Apple’s special even today they updated the Mac Mini and unveiled the iPod Hi-Fi.

The iPod Hi-Fi is not a new iPod but rather a home stereo system. Basically it’s a big set of speakers. ;) No radio or CD player (that’s so 2000) just great sound (surround sound) in a simplistic design with a built in iPod dock and remote. However for $350 I think I’ll pass for now. Maybe there is a iPod Hi-Fi mini coming out. Ha ha.

Romantic Comedy. With Zombies.

Shaun of the Dead

If you haven’t seen [Trailer in iTunes]icon I highly recommend it. It’s one of my favorite movies!

It’s a parody of Dawn of the Dead; only this time, they added a love story and some comedy. It’s very funny as two unlikely, and lazy, heroes have to try and survive as their town is over run by zombies. Sure, it’s a little scary at times, but I don’t like horror movies and I enjoyed Shaun of the Dead very much.

Check it out and enjoy!

A New Day for Disney

Today begins a new day at Disney. Robert Iger takes over for Michael Eisner as CEO. Michael Eisner has been under great criticism for the way he has dealt with the company in the past years. From sequels to over promotion and the end of hand drawn cartoon movies, I think that Eisner was focused on all the wrong areas. Hopefully Robert Iger can take Disney back to the days when the latest Disney (not Disney & Pixar) movie was the hottest thing in town.

Good Luck Robert Iger :)

Sin City is Stupid

We watched night and were very disappointed. Christi and I were both really excited to see it. Sure it looked cool, but the movie sucked. We were not impressed at all. Just a bunch of people violently killing other people and smoking. I didn’t get it. Very big let down. Glad I didn’t see it in the movie theater.

War of the Worlds was ok.

We went out to see War of the Worlds last night and I give it a B. Enjoyable, but lacking.

I was all excited to see it and so was Christi. We went with two other people and had a good time. The movie had a great beginning. I love the weather so that helps. ;) The only thing I really didn’t like was the ending. Just seemed like it wasn’t done well. I liked the actors and action and everything else, but the ending was a let down for us. The two other people we went with didn’t like it at all, but we enjoyed it. It just didn’t leave us satisfied.

Muppets on TV

I got to watch most of the on Friday night and it was a good movie. A very modernized version which I liked very much. My favorite character was Rizzo and this was an excellent, new, Muppet movie.

Happy Star Wars Day

Episode III Revenge of the Sith opens today! That’s big news for Star Wars fans. Not for me though, I still haven’t seen Star Wars Episode II Attack of the Clones. I guess I’m just not that big of a Star Wars fan. Yes, I said it. ;)

Enjoy!

- Oh and by Today, I meant at midnight. So that’s technically tomorrow I guess. Close enough.
