Posts just in the Social Bookmarks Category Feed Icon

Whoops, I just sent like 400 StumbleUpon Friend Requests

StumbleUpon LogoIt seems that StumbleUpon can connect to your Gmail account and auto-magically connect you with those that have StumbleUpon accounts. I thought that was cool so I did it. I didn’t realize that it was also sending invites to all those in my address book that weren’t on StumbleUpon.

Since I have 419 random emails in Gmail, I feel I just spammed hundreds of people. SORRY!! I didn’t mean to.

It seems that a number of those emails were to support sites so I just opened up quite a few support tickets too. Crap.

Chicklet & Social Creator Work in Wordpress 2.1

I have a test blog that I basically do anything with so I decided to take the chances and upgrade to Wordpress 2.1 on it tonight. I didn’t perform a backup, I didn’t even disable any plugins, I just upgraded and in about two minutes I was done. Everything works great and looks good.

My fist test, besides looking at the new editor, was to see if the Chicklet Creator and Social Bookmark Creator plugins worked. Sure enough, they had no issues.

These are two plugins you can check off the worry list as there is nothing to worry about here. ;)

Social Bookmark Wordpress Plugin Testing

Social Bookmark Creator iConWanted: A few brave soles to test out the new Social Bookmark Wordpress Plugin. It’s an upgrade of my current version and includes an admin screen for selecting the options you want to show.

I had more issues with this one than expected as it kept hooking into my Chicklet Creator plugin and editing that. However, I think that’s all fixed.

If you’d like to test it leave a comment below. The only thing I ask is that if you install it, try it out and get back to me in a few days so I can fix any bugs and get it released to the general public next week.

Updated Chicklet & Social Blog Tools

Announcing updates to the Chicklet Creator and the Social Bookmark Creator.

The updated blog tools include a new layout, more buttons and a few added features. One of the big additions is the drop down menus. You can now create a CSS drop down menu to hold all your feed buttons, or you can create a social bookmark pop-up menu just like the one above.

New Wordpress Plugin Instructions

Last night I decided that my Wordpress plugins needed a bit more detailed install and configure instructions.  Sure, I know how to do it but that doesn’t mean anyone else gets it. :)

Check out the Chicklet Creator Wordpress Plugin instructions and the Social Bookmark Wordpress Plugin instructions.  Let me know if something doesn’t make sense or if I missed anything.

Just trying to make it easier to use.

Social Bookmarks Tool Goes Static

If you wanted to use the Social Bookmark Tool but didn’t have a blog, now you can. I added the functionality to add a static URL and create social bookmark links.

Granted, this static code will only work with one URL and title, it’s not dynamic like the blog code that will create links based on what page you are on. However, it still works great if you have one special page that you think should have some social bookmark options.

I’ve also make a quick fix to the Social Bookmark Links Wordpress Plugin as it seems that FeedMarker wasn’t coded right if you choose the drop down menu. It’s all good now though.

Wordpress Plugins Error

If you are using either Wordpress plugin that I’ve created, you might want to update. There is a small error, actually a typo. Oops. The ‘after all’ feature didn’t work. So if you were to want to put something after all the buttons or bookmarks it wouldn’t show. But it’s been updated now.

Also, if you are using Safari or Firefox, check out the subscribe icon in the upper right.  Like it?  Does it work well?  Feedback welcome.  If you are on IE or anything else, I have no idea if it works or even looks good. ;)

Social Bookmark Wordpress Plugin Updated

I’ve added a new display option to the Social Bookmark Wordpress plugin. Now you can get your social bookmarks in a list, just like before, or you can get them in a drop down menu.

The new drop down feature lets you add all the social bookmark options without taking up much space.

Output Options:
Link List:

Drop Down Menu: (only available via the Wordpress Plugin at this time)

Download the Social Bookmark Wordpress Plugin v0.2

Works in Wordpress 2.x and should work in 1.5.

If you’d like to see the drop down functionality added for the web based tool, just let me know.

Re-Discovering Del.icio.us

I’ve been social booking sites for a while now. I started with Furl and have tried many different services. Spurl is my favorite, however, del.icio.us seems to be the site of choice in the mainstream. Now I say mainstream loosely as social bookmarking is not known or understood my many, however those that do know it, usually use del.icio.us.

I did use del.icio.us for a while, but I didn’t feel it was as search engine friendly as each link has a no-follow tag associated with it. So I switched. However, as I just returned from PubCon, it seems a lot of people seem to use del.icio.us more than any other social bookmark site for finding information. So, I thought that I needed to re-discover del.icio.us and make sure that people were finding my site.
