Recently I ran across Hands Held High by Linkin Park, another song that really makes you think and holds nothing back.

The video above is an un-official video. YouTube is full of them and this is the one I liked the most.

This is, at first glance, More than a Memory is not one of my favorite Garth music videos. I think it’s quite depressing and … well … Garth should keep his shirt on.

Brad Paisley has written some interesting songs in the past including Ticks, Alcohol & Celebrity and continues his string with one called Online. It’s all about how we mask who we really are on sites like MySpace and become much cooler online.

According to Boing Boing, the character is Wheel-Stealer who eventually evolved into Cookie Monster. Cookie Monster or not, it’s still a great clip.

I have to say, I really like the Get Mac ads and think they are very enjoyable. To bad I’m not the target audience as I’ve always been a Mac guy.

The use of paint in this video is a great effect, however it wasted a lot of materials. To shoot the video it took 5,000 gallons of paint and they went through 12 white Stetson cowboy hats, 18 full tuxes and 6 baby grand pianos.

A clip from behind the scenes even says that the first take of lowering Garth into the paint went very wrong and he was very thankful. The pain was to thick and the lowering device jammed. This was good as the paint was also cold and Garth’s body temp was dropping fast. With thinner, and warmer, paint, the second take was perfect.

The outcome of this video is great and one of my favorite music videos ever.

Before American Idol though, there was a very clever music video that includes a guy and a girl who seem to be stuck in a rut. And yes, they do hook up in the end.

Check out the video (with no American Idol references).

And an interesting point, Bad Day was never written for American Idol, it just happened to get picked up.

First off is Goodbye Earl from the Dixie Chicks. The subject of the song is serious, but it’s been played out in a fun way. Goodbye Earl has drawn a lot of controversy in the past, but it’s an all out fun song with a very smart video. The way it transitions from one scene to the next is smooth and very smart. Just remember, don’t kill your spouse, it’s illegal.
