Not long ago I was introduced to AuctionAds, a systems that displays Ebay ads in a nice and clean format on blogs. The upside is that they look great, are easy to use and give another form of monetization abilities to a blog. The downside was that they were not content specific.

There is an article out there on how to Make Auction Ads Contextual but it works with the Ultimate Tag Warrior plugin. What I was looking for was a way to tie the ads into the categories, so I coded it out. Here is how you can customize your AuctionAds to be category specific with Wordpress.

A week or so ago I released a FeedBurner StandardStats plugin for Wordpress over at my BloggerDesign.com blog. It’s purpose was to make it easy to add FeedBurners new (and free) stats program into a Wordpress blog.

An interesting side effect was that it also inserts FeedFlare into your posts as well. This makes it extremely easy to install and configure both items without ever having to mess with the template.

Not exactly sure what that means but it’s cold enough to freeze anything you got. Our highs this weekend will be lucky to hit 0 and windshields will range from -15 to -40. I’m considering plugging in my car for the first time in years. However it’s to cold to go outside and do so.

I have a test blog that I basically do anything with so I decided to take the chances and upgrade to Wordpress 2.1 on it tonight. I didn’t perform a backup, I didn’t even disable any plugins, I just upgraded and in about two minutes I was done. Everything works great and looks good.

My fist test, besides looking at the new editor, was to see if the Chicklet Creator and Social Bookmark Creator plugins worked. Sure enough, they had no issues.

These are two plugins you can check off the worry list as there is nothing to worry about here.

When Wordpress 2.0 launched, I thought the admin area looked quite nice. However, the Tiger Administration plugin takes Wordpress’ admin look and feel to a whole new level.

One thing I did notice is that more and more spam is getting though so I added a quick security question. It’s really simple and will hopefully weed out a few unwanted comments.

Wanted: A few brave soles to test out the new Social Bookmark Wordpress Plugin. It’s an upgrade of my current version and includes an admin screen for selecting the options you want to show.

I had more issues with this one than expected as it kept hooking into my Chicklet Creator plugin and editing that. However, I think that’s all fixed.

In one of the fastest upgrades ever, I’ve got Blog on a Stick up to Wordpress 2.0.4. Thanks to YummyFTP, the fastest FTP client I’ve ever seen, it tool like a minute. Sweeeet.
