iPhone Facebook Sidebar for Firefox

In the past, I’ve talked about how to open Facebook in the sidebar of Firefox. Now, I’ve taken that idea one step farther and created a Firefox extension.

The iPhone Facebook Sidebar extension opens Facebook’s iPhone page and allows you to keep tabs on your friends, update your status, message people and accept friend requests.

Features include:

  • Seeing friend’s updates.
  • Updating our status.
  • Viewing Friends
  • Writing on friends wall.
  • Viewing inbox.
  • Sending messages.
  • Other miscellaneous Facebook fun.
  • Works on Mac and Windows. Possibly Linux too.

Google Analytics Extension Updated

The new version of GA? has been released. The Google Analytics detector now re-checks each page as you switch between tabs to ensure the status bar icon is kept up to date. This was a big enhancement for me as I’ve always got multiple tabs open.

However, with advancements comes a few more bug reports.

1. GA? doesn’t update the status bar icon when switching between windows . Actually this may be a non issue. I’m still thinking that one over.

Review my latest Firefox Extensions

Firefox IconIf you’ve tried out GA? or Google Personalized Search Switch, please take a moment to either add a comment over at the extension’s page on the Mozilla Addon site (they are in the sandbox) or on the individual blog posts. The reviews will help me get them onto the public Addon site faster and out to the general public. They’ll also help me find out if there are any bugs that need to be fixed up.

Each extension will be undergoing some updates as I work towards version 1.0, but testing is a big part.

Thanks

Is Google Analytics Installed? - GA? Firefox Extension

To get the best results out of Google Analytics, you need to ensure it’s installed on each page of a website. To automatically check for you, I’ve created a Firefox extension to do all the work.

Google Analytics Check

GA? will put a little icon in the status bar of your Firefox web browser. It will then check each page you load to to see if it has Google Analytics installed. If so, it’ll show a colored bar chart. If Google Analytics doesn’t appear to be installed, it’ll show a gray bar chart.

Google Personalized Search Switch for Firefox

Have you ever wanted to turn Google Personalized Search on or off without logging out of your Google account? Well now you can with the Google Personalized Search Switch for Firefox.

Google Personalized Search Switch

Google Personalized Search Switch is a Firefox extension that adds the ability to turn on and off Google’s personalized search results by just clicking on the icon in the status bar.

When you want personalized search results turned off, click on the eyes and close them. The extension will then add the pre-defined Google variable, &pws=0, to the URL of any future Google web searches. There is no need for you to log out of your Google account.

Help Save a Firefox Theme or Extension!

Save FirefoxDid you know that there are Firefox themes and extensions stuck in the sandbox and that you can help save them? It’s true, with just a few clicks of the mouse, and taps on the keyboard, you can bring joy to a Firefox addon and their developer.

It’s really easy, just head over to the Mozilla Addon site and sign up for a free account. Once you are logged in, click on the ’sandbox’ link next to the search box and you can then browse though the sandbox looking at many brand new & updated themes or extensions. Some of which you may have never seen before! Find one you like, install it and try it out for a few days. Then, head back to the addon’s page in the sandbox and write a review. That’s all there is to it.

What is the Mozilla Sandbox?

With the recent upgrade to the Mozilla Addon’s site, there is now a sandbox. What’s a sandbox you ask? Well it’s where all new addons go before they go live to the public.

The great thing about the sandbox is that once you are in, you can view and install any theme or extension that has been uploaded. There is no waiting for approval which is good news to developers. One can upload their item right away and send users to it.

yExplore Adds Firefox 2 & 3 Support

yExplore has been updated to version 1.2 adding support for Firefox 2 and Firefox 3.

Since it’s a basic extension, and doesn’t tie into much that will change a lot, I thought it was safe to add the additional support. It has been tested by a friend in the latest version of Firefox so now everyone can enjoy it. :)

Next up, Flock & Seamonkey support!

iPox v0.6 Released

It took a while, but I’ve finally gotten around to updating iPox!

* New in v0.6 *

  1. Some Fission extension support. - Actually I coded it in and then I messed with it and I think it still works ok.
  2. Tab bar & bookmark bar backgrounds should now repeat vertically for those with more than one line. - If this doesn’t happen right, let me know. I’m not sure how to test it.
  3. GoogleToolbar URL bar space fix. This was a bugger. Now there is a space, but it at least blends in.
  4. Help icons themed.

yExplore : Quickly Access Yahoo Site Explorer

yExplore is a Firefox, Netscape & Flock extension to quickly access Yahoo Site Explorer.

The yExplore 1.6 update brings updates to match updates to Yahoo Site Explorer, better Flock support and added Netscape 9 support.

The yExplore 1.5 update included two options. yExplore the domain or a single page.

yExplore 1.5

I felt that one extension that I was missing in Firefox was one to let me quickly access Yahoo Site Explorer stats. So, I took it upon myself to do a little research and build my first Firefox extension.
