I’m no longer an active Flickr user as I’ve switched over to Zooomr for all my photo sharing needs. Actually, I did this long ago, but now that Zooomr Mark III is out, I thought I’d share.

There were two things that drove me away from Flickr. One, the photo limit. I hit the max of 200 on a free account and that was it. No more uploading until I paid money. Doesn’t Yahoo own this now? Can’t they kick in the money and give me unlimited uploads? I’m sure it’ll happen, but not soon enough.

One of my favorite startup companies is in need of help. Zooomr is a great photo sharing site much like Flickr or Photobucket. However, during a recent upgrade, they ran into major issues. Now they are in dire need of new database machines to get everything back online.

One can donate via the Zooomr homepage. Any amount is accepted. If you work for, or know someone at, a large company maybe you could see this as an opportunity to fund the startup or donate some hardware.

Check out the new Flock Dock desktop picture. It’s my way of spreading the word of Flock and adding to the Flock community.

The idea behind the desktop picture is to be clean and easy on the eyes. It also has a gray area at the bottom for those of you running a Mac and who have your dock at the bottom of the screen.

You can download Flock Dock at Flickr or Zooomr. Zooomr has the biggest version at 1440 x 900 where as Flickr maxes out at 1024 x 640.

I heard that Zooomr was giving out free pro accounts for signing up and blogging an image so I thought I’d join up. Still not sure how it all works, but I’m waiting for my free upgrade.

For my first image, I looked back though some old photos and found a picture of a nasty fish that was served up at my sister-in-laws wedding. It’s salmon and doesn’t it make you want to …um… dig in?
