We even stopped by the Minneapolis Public Library which is the first time I’ve been there since they re-did it. Turns out it has a really nice kids area and a kids bathroom that has a mini toilet and sink which Lily thought was pretty fun.

It was a great morning for being out and about and it was fun to be downtown for a little while as we don’t make it there very often.

It's Potty Time

We all knew this day would come, but so soon? It’s time for potty training.

Believe it or not, Lily is ready where as dad’s not quite.

At daycare, Lily has been watching another girl get potty trained so she  knows the basics.

When she goes into the bathroom, she knows to pull down her pants and sit on the potty. We’ve even taken her diaper off a few times to see what she’d do.

Sunday she actually went potty! Most of it got in her toilet, but not all. It was the first success. She even grabbed for some toilet paper.

So now we are starting potty training.

It’ll be nice to start phasing out diapers, even though I know that’s a long ways away.

It all started because he said he had some on his shirt and it snowballed from there.

We talked about kinds of butt paste, diaper rash, how horrible it is, crying babies, pooping and all that fun stuff.

It’s amazing how much you learn after a year with a baby. I can now hold conversations on all sorts of baby topics!

Just think if our cars ran on dirty diapers. We’d be set for life! Or at least a few years.

Or what if my house burned them to create heat. As long as it didn’t smell, that’d be awesome. I’d save so much money on heating bills!

You’d think that someone would come up with a fancy solution to getting rid of them without just tossing them in the trash, but no. Not yet.

Maybe in the future someone will. Until then, it’s just one bag of crap after another to haul out to the trash can.

She still wakes with a really full diaper, but it’s not like her pjs are wet. And since we started using them, we’ve only had one night where she woke up 2am and I think that was due to something different.

If you’ve got a baby who’s starting to wake up way too early in the morning, try some overnight diapers and see if they help. They worked wonders for us.

Lily has recently found the joy of toilet paper.

It’s soft, it’s within reaching range, easy to grab, and it just keeps coming the more and more we pull.

Needless to say, all toilet paper has been removed from the holder and is up high where little hand’s can’t get.

I sometimes wish that I enjoyed the simple things in life like this!!

This leaves Dad taking care of Lily instead of perusing the internet and writing blog posts.

I’m hoping this is just a phase and it’ll soon pass like all others.

We’re thinking she’s waking up early because her diaper is over full and she becomes uncomfortable. Then once she’s up, she likes to stay up.

So tonight we put on some overnight diapers to see if that’ll help.

Recently she’s been having diarrhea and many dirty diapers. Yesterday I changed three in the hour she was up in the morning. Usually I change 1 and that’s just the one wet one from overnight.

Then at daycare she had about 5 more. They are diarrhea like and gross and it’s concerning us.

She still eats well, sleeps good, and is pretty happy. She’s a bit more crabby than usual, but not a whole lot.

We think it may be teething, but aren’t sure. Can teething cause something like this?

It’s our first time worrying about her really being sick and we’re concerned. If she’s still having issues tomorrow, we may run to the doctor to be safe. Especially since we are to go on a long car trip this weekend.

For now we’re just monitoring her and making sure she gets plenty of fluids as dehydration is a big concern that we’re hearing from family and the internet.

I’m sure she’ll be fine, but I don’t like my little girl being sick. Nor do I like chaining multiple dirty diapers, and an outfit, all before 8am.

This news was of particular concern to us as we use the Dry Max diapers and don’t want our baby to have to go though this. In fact, a few weeks ago, her butt would be very red after coming home from daycare. However, at daycare she uses Target diapers, not the Pampers, and after a few hours at home, her butt would clear up.

The good news here is that we are not having any issues with Pampers Dry Max, but that didn’t stop us from picking up some other diapers just in case.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is also looking into the claims, so they’ll let us know if there is any truth to these rumors or not.

The funny thing is that Pampers is blaming it all on Facebook and social media. I guess being connected can be a bad thing.

The worst part is some are the cupboards under the bathroom sink where the extra TP is. There’s now way you can get these stupid locks off when you realize you’re out. You have to pre-plan. Grrrr

Others I’m not so concerned about, but will avoid anything that’s in them.
