Lily’s Christmas Performance

Lily’s daycare had a Christmas party for the families last week. We all got together, ate some food and then the kids performed Christmas songs for us.

It was fun seeing how much Lily likes daycare. She was running all around, wasn’t the least bit shy and just enjoyed herself the whole evening. Plus she gets to sing and dance so that’s always a win in her book.

FYI: Lily is the one in the lower right corner with the black dress with pink arms and legs.

At work they created a contest for employees to showcase what they are a nerd about. All you had to do was make a video and one lucky winner would get an iPad 2.

So I was wondering what I was a nerd about. There are more than a few topics I could go with and I decided to make a video on Lily. She’s been brought into my techy world since day one and we do plenty of nerdy things together.

Out of everything we do, I decided to focus on the photos we take.

I’ve taken over 3000 photos and we even have a daily photo together. I’ve got some amazing shots and some not so hot ones too. Either way, the images are priceless and I felt I was a bit of a nerd for all the photos I take.

Here is the video I made with Stuperflix, QuickTime and iMovie.

Sliding down a pre-shoveled path works great.

Having a nice sliding hill is one thing, but it can be a lot of work to carve out a path.

However, we realized that the neighbors had a walking path down the hill that they kept well shoveled. It happened to be a little icy too and was perfect for sledding!

It’s great because there is just enough snow & ice to cover the grass, yet we didn’t have to plow through anything. The sides are high enough to keep the sled from veering off the path and it was easy to walk up. Win Win.

The thing I love most about kids is their imagination and creativity. The world is theirs to conquer and they fear nothing.

As parents, we should fuel our kids imagination by either playing along and/or doing what we can to help out.

VW has a great ad out right now that sums this all up very nicely.

It’s amazing what little kids find fun, like a plastic storage tub. It’s one of the most fun things we know of!

Add in a few toys, and throw them out again, and it’s even better!

Lily loves to go sledding.

We went out earlier this year and she just giggled and wanted to go again.

Towards the end of the video, you can see I pushed her into the landscaping. She bounced off and giggled at me. Seems Dad has some issues with avoiding things.

Earlier, and sadly not caught on video, I pushed her down the hill on the other side of the house and she ran right into the clothesline pole. Again, she didn’t care and it was pretty funny.

We’ve tried sledding a few other times, but our snow has gotten so deep that it’s been hard to forge out a path. Plus Dad gets tired of walking up and down the hill pulling a little girl.

Maybe our rain event today and tomorrow will cause the hill to be ice-covered and fast. Then maybe the sledding will be even more fun!

Do you remember how much fun balloons are? They are lots of fun, that is until it gets away and we can’t reach it. Then we need Dad’s help to bring it back down.

Being out on Grandpa’s farm is fun. There are lots of things to see and do and we have fun.

Lily decided to help Grandpa by picking up the rocks on his driveway. One by one she was doing well at picking them up and handing them over. Then she found a small one, a bite sized one, and put it in her mouth. That ended the picking up rocks fun.

Time sure does fly. Last year we were having a baby and now we have a 1 year old!

Look how tiny Lily was! This is at 7 days old.

Then 7 months old.

And then 11 months old.

With all the growing she’s done in the past year, I can’t imagine what’s around the corner, but we’re ready for it. As ready as we’ll ever be.

Why crawl when you can walk?

Over the 4th of July weekend, Lily started walking and she hasn’t looked back. She loves to walk around the house and explore everything. She even walks on the grass and pretty much anyplace we put her down.

As for hats, we’re still getting use to them. This is one of the first times she put it on and actually kept it on for more than a second.

Shake & Shoot: Lily’s Directorial Movie Debut

Lily isn’t even a year yet and she is already making her own movies. Not only is she the star, but she shot the whole movie herself. Check it out!

Granted there are still a few things for her to learn, like how to hold the camera steady, but the movie director, and star, in her is already shining through.

You never know, there may already be a sequel in the works.

Lily really likes playing with her cube. It is lightweight, fun and has strings on the inside! The only downside is that it’s a bit hard to get out of sometimes. So they battle. It’s Lily vs the cube.
