Who says adults can’t have fun toys?

I’m a believer that just because you get older, doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy the basics in life. Believe it or not, if you go down the toy aisle at the store, you’ll find something that is a heck of a lot of fun!

We recently got an electric powered race track and it’s so cool. It has loops and cyclones and even upside down track for the cars to run on. It’s like one I had as a kid, only this one has all the parts and it works well. ;)

What is my dream application?

My Dream App contest has been announced!  It’s loosely based on the American Idol concept where contestants enter and then the public votes for one application until it becomes a reality!

The good news is, you don’t have to have talent!  Just come up with a great idea for a Mac application, enter it, and you could win.  Even if you don’t make it to the top, the top 24 ideas all get an iPod or a Mac.  How sweet is that?

American Idol Auditions in Minneapolis Minnesota

On Friday September 8th, 2006 American Idol is coming to Minneapolis’s Target Center! Get your voice in gear and then get a place in line!

If you can’t wait that long, you can get a guaranteed audition by visiting the Brookdale center on August 5th and 12th. There whey will be doing auditions and awarding passes that will make sure American Idol hears you.

I’m not sure what kind of zoo all the crazed wanna-be’s will make, but I’m sure it will be fun!

I’ll see you all on TV!

Congrats Kari Rabe

Kari Rabe from my hometown of Chatfield Minnesota was on Wheel of Fortune last night and did excellent. I think she went home with about $50,000!!!

I know (knew) Kari as I was friends with her brother Luke in high school and I’ve hung out with the whole family. That was a long time ago though. ;)

Congratulations Kari!

Parallels – Emulation Done Right

Parallels LogoI’ve taken Parallels for a test spin and I’m very impressed. VirtualPC was the best emulator around years ago and it still never worked very good. Now, with Parallels, you can run Windows (3.1, 3.11, 95, 98, Me, 2000, NT, XP, 2003), any Linux distribution, FreeBSD, Solaris, OS/2, eComStation, or MS-DOS while running OS X.

I installed and ran Windows 98 as it’s the only thing I had lying around. The install process was pretty simple and took forever. The long install is thanks to Microsoft though, not an issue with Parallels. Once installed, the speed that Windows 98 ran was extremely impressive! No delays when you try to open a folder. No ‘this blows’ attitude like I had with VirtualPC. It was smooth, fast and ran quite good.

My Sharks Mate A Lot

It’s true. I started with two sharks and now I’m up to 11!

To clarify, I got a great application called Fish. I realized I hadn’t tried it out since I got my sweet new machine. It runs so much better than on my previous machine.

Fish is a virtual aquarium. It allows me to run an aquarium simulator and add in fish. You can get to choose from a variety of fish, feed the fish, set some physical characteristics, name the fish, choose a setting and you get a free-range camera to watch the fish.

macZOT MyzteryZOT Letdown

When I was introduced to macZOT a few days ago, I was very excited. Seemed like a great site with an interesting twist. However, I realize now that MyzteryZOTs are not for me.

The deal was over $130 dollars in software for $15. What the software was, I didn’t know. It sounded like fun so I went for it.

Here is what I got:

  1. World of Where – Geography game that matches cities and state and other capitals world wide. Haven’t tried it but it doesn’t really appeal to me.

I’m no American Idol

I found out this weekend that I’m not the next American Idol.

We rented Karaoke Revolution this weekend and gave it a try. Basically it’s Karaoke only you play it on Xbox (or GameCube or PlayStation). It comes with a Mic and is very cool, except I kept getting booed off the stage. That’s right, I sucked. My wife however did awesome! She has no problems hitting all the right notes.

The game is a lot of fun and I did enjoy it. I just now know that American Idol is not in my future. ;)

BurgerTime – Intellivision Game

BurgerTimeWay back in the day there was a great game called BurgerTime for a video game system called Intellivision.

The idea was that you were a cook and had to make burgers. Basically, just run across the ingredients (bun, lettuce & patty) to make them fall down and create a burger.

But, be careful of the hot dogs, pickles and eggs as they will try and stop you! Good news is that you have pepper that you can throw at them to stun them.

Out of pepper? Don’t worry, you can collect ice cream cones, coffee, and the french fries to get more.
