Tool for adding Facebook app tabs to your page.
On February 1st, Facebook officially killed all app profile pages. However, what they left behind was a confusing and difficult way for users to add their app tabs to their pages.
What use to be a simple click is now, create a new HTML page with specific code and then format your URL a specific way replacing the variables with your pages’ information. Yea, a little bit more complicated.
So, I created a tool that will do all the hard work for you. All you need to do is provide the application ID and the URL to your servers where you’re hosting the page.
Waze, social GPS, turns 3 on Android and grows up beautifully.
I’ve been testing out a lot of GPS apps over the past few months and Waze is the front-runner. Not only is it feature packed, but just yesterday it turned 3 on Android and the interface went from ok to great.

There are a lot of things I like about Waze but the biggest two are that it’s free and that it’s social.
The social integration part is what makes Waze stand out amongst others. This means that other Waze users can report traffic levels, accidents or even cops so that the rest of us know what’s going on in our area.
Twitter has a job opening for a unicorn slayer.
Did you see Twitter’s awesome recruiting video? I have to say, it got my attention because it’s cheesy awesome.
While listing open jobs, I noticed that they are even hiring a unicorn slayer. Now I think that may be illegal, with them being endangered and all, but you don’t find that job to many places.

I think I’m going to stay at my current nerdy job for now, but if I ever want to fly with the blue birds, Twitter sounds like fun.
How to update your Facebook status so only some of your friends see it.
It seems like everyone is on Facebook these days. I have high school friends, co-workers, relatives and even my mother in-law follows my updates. However, I don’t always want to share everything with everyone. That’s why there are Facebook lists.
Lists are a way of organizing your friends into groups; or circles if anyone uses Google+. You can then select that list and see only updates from those friends.
You can also post updates only to a list. That way you can say “Man I totally got wasted last night” and not share it with your boss or mom. ![]()
Google+. The social network that wants to be cool but isn’t.
Who doesn’t love the idea of Goolge+? It’s a social network, from Google, that ties into your Google life. It’s got a pretty easy to use interface, does a great job at grouping friends, has video and audio chat built-in and can automatically upload every picture you take from your Android phone into the system. It has a lot of good things going for it; except no one really uses it.
Sadly, Google+ doesn’t fix the main problem with social networks; noise. I actually follow fewer people on Google+ than I do on Twitter or Facebook and it just seems more noisy. There are so many links, images and videos that it’s information overload.
Why do phone carriers still charge for text messaging when there are so many free alternatives?
I’m not a big texter, but I do get a few each month from others. So I end up paying a few dollars for texts. What I don’t get is why phone carriers charge for texting when so many others give it away for free? I already pay $$ for the phone and service, why do they have to charge me on top of that?
As an alternative, my wife and I usually use Facebook Messenger. I send her pictures and texts all the time. The downside here is that you need to be friends with someone to message them.
Get 50GB of cloud storage free from Box.net & access your files from your desktop.

Box.net has a great promotion going on for iOS users. If you create a new account, or use an existing free account, login via the iPad or iPhone app and you’ll automatically score 50GB of space for life.
The downside with Box.net is that it doesn’t have desktop syncing like DropBox does. However, you can mount your Box.net account on your desktop and manage all your files. It’s not the speediest, but it works.
Facebook’s Like number is more than just people clicking Like.
It seems that every site now has a Facebook Like button on it, but did you know that the number of Likes is made up of more than just people clicking Like?
The number shown on a Like button is the sum of:
- The number of likes for the URL
- The number of shares for the URL – This includes copy/pasting a link back to Facebook.
- The number of likes and comments on stories on Facebook about the URL
- The number of inbox messages containing the URL as an attachment
My parents should be so proud of me because I’m addicted to the internet, not drugs.

Dear Mom and Dad and the D.A.R.E. people,
I listened. I’m not addicted to drugs, instead I’m addicted to the internet.
I’m not wasting all my money on meth and crack and things like that. Though I do spend money on hosting, Flickr Pro, online backup and Amazon. Not to mention all the apps and music I get from iTunes. But that’s not the point, I’m being good.
I don’t go around, stealing things just to get a fix. Wait, that’s not exactly true. I have been known to “borrow” the internet from the library across the street when mine goes out just to send an email. And I do know where to find free internet if I need it. Again, not the point.
Teaching Myself jQuery – Here’s What I’ve Learned So Far
I finally did it. I’ve been wanting to learn jQuery for a while, but haven’t had the chance to sit down and do it. So I took some time over the past week and jumped in.
Turns out, it’s just as cool as everyone says.
Here are a few things I’ve learned so far:
It’s Simple
You don’t have to know anything to add jQuery to your site. Just add a line of code to your files and you’ve got the base for all jQuery scripts. No configuration necessary. Heck, you don’t even need to host it! Let Google do that for you.
