When Software FAILs Me.

Every now and then I get a nice message from software that just doesn’t make sense. Check out some of the recent FAILs I’ve gotten below.

Blogger FAIL - How can I be over 100% done and how can we have published more files that we have available?

Dreamweaver FAIL - If everything is complete, why do I have a progress bar?

Microsoft Office 2008 FAIL - I'm sure the issue is due to a floppy too. Wait, didn't those go out of style in the 90s?

SkEdit – A Dreamweaver Replacement

SkEdit is simple, fast, not bloated with useless features and it’s now my Dreamweaver replacement.

It’s extremely hard to find an application that can do all that Dreamweaver can, however, it’s even harder to pay $400 for a piece of software. I have been checking out all sorts of editors trying to find a great Dreamweaver replacement and I’ve ended up with SkEdit.

SkEdit is a nice, small application for Macs that offers a full array of features. It comes with built in FTP/SFTP/WebDAV, has code completion, a preview window, syntax coloring, tabs, Intel support and much more. The only thing I really miss is the ability to edit in design mode and spell check.

Dreamweaver Replacement on the Mac?

I’m looking for a replacement for Dreamweaver on my new iMac. I like Dreamweaver but it seems to complex (and expensive) for what I need.

What I’d like in a new app is code completion and code preview abilities. Granted, I know that’s not always available. Built in FTP would be good too but not necessary. If I could edit in graphical mode that’d be awesome. Dreamweaver has the code and preview modes and both are editable.

Here is my list of applications so far that I’ve found. Granted they don’t meet all my needs, but I want to consider everything. I can adapt to fewer features for $350 dollars less. (Dreamweaver is $400)
