Thunderbird 2 Launches
I’m a fan of Thunderbird (the free email client) and version 2 was just released today!
Besides performance, security and bug fixes that come with any upgrade, Thunderbird 2 has more labels/tags with better organizing options, multi paned sidebar, universal Mac binary, better Vista support and a Firefox like search bar in each message. I’m sure there is more, but until I can really dig into it and use it for a while, I won’t know.
Flock Finally Goes Universal
When I saw Flock today on MacUpate, the same question passed though my mind, ‘is it Universal yet?’
I have an Intel iMac at home and Flock performed less than great. I’m not sure why but it just felt wrong. So, I searched for a build that ran natively on Intel Mac processors with no luck, until today!
Flock is now Universal and runs on PPC & Intel Mac’s!
I love my Firefox, and I like the idea of Flock and I can finally get back into it again. As soon as I get home, I’m going to give it a go. Good work guys!
Apple Supports Windows XP on Macs
It’s true. Apple is saying it’s OK to boot into XP on Intel based Macs. They are even giving away software to make it easier to do!
Check out Boot Camp and see how Apple is supporting Windows on Macs.
Next thing you know, they’ll be building the technology to run windows applications in MacOSX. I’m sure it’s possible now, but will Apple do it?
Now on Intel
Imagine my suprise when my wife’s suggestions to her PC issues was to get me a new computer and she’d take my old one.
The end result was a purchase of a new iMac. It’s running the intel chip and has so many new and cool programs and features!!
So far it’s wonderful and I haven’t even played with half of the new features.
This is quite a step up from my Powerbook 667!! ![]()
iPod Hi-Fi Unveiled!
At Apple’s special even today they updated the Mac Mini and unveiled the iPod Hi-Fi.
The iPod Hi-Fi is not a new iPod but rather a home stereo system. Basically it’s a big set of speakers.
No radio or CD player (that’s so 2000) just great sound (surround sound) in a simplistic design with a built in iPod dock and remote. However for $350 I think I’ll pass for now. Maybe there is a iPod Hi-Fi mini coming out. Ha ha.
