Minneapolis Morning
We headed down to the farmers market at the Guthrie this morning and then took a stroll across the stone arch bridge.

St. Anthony Falls
We even stopped by the Minneapolis Public Library which is the first time I’ve been there since they re-did it. Turns out it has a really nice kids area and a kids bathroom that has a mini toilet and sink which Lily thought was pretty fun.
It was a great morning for being out and about and it was fun to be downtown for a little while as we don’t make it there very often.
Freeway Drive Time Signs Are Amazingly Accurate
Now that I have a longer drive to work, and into the big city, I’ve found the freeway drive time signs to be very handy, and really accurate.

I pass three of these on my way to work and they help me decide which path to take.
Some days they say it’ll take me 9 minutes to 35W via 494 and, even when I’m stopped dead in traffic, it eventually loosens up and an within about 9 minutes, I’m at 35W.
Other days, when it says it’ll take 26 minutes, that’s a good indication that I need to find an alternate route.
Get Weather Alerts via Twitter
Lets face it, some of us are on Twitter more than we are paying attention to most other forms of communication. We can tell you what was recently blogged, but we sometimes have no idea what’s going on outside our window with the weather. Wouldn’t it be nice to get them to come to you, via Twitter? Now you can.
I’ve used a combination of dlvr.it and Weather.gov weather alert feeds to post updates to Twitter. Now when a storm is coming, I can know!
Things Learned at the 2008 MIMA Holiday Party
Another fun MIMA event has come and gone. This time it was the 2008 Holiday party. In talking with some people, here are a few things that were learned.
Black Hat vs White Hat SEO – I had an fun talk with a kid who goes to the UofM and does Black Hat SEO. He said he didn’t have the patients for doing things the right way, he just like making things happen now. A lady at our table asked us the difference between what we do, as it sounded pretty much the same, and I said, “He does it fast, I last longer.” Tell that to a lady who’s had a few glass’ of wine and her mind will connect something else and we all had a good laugh.
Is Ryan Evans Our Next President?
While at the MIMA Summit on Wednesday, I got to talk with Ryan Evans. Little did I know at the time, he was running for president!
Since I’m still an undecided voter, Ryan Evans is as good as any. His lack of political experience and ability to dodge questions is on par with any other candidate. He takes on real topics too, like the Facebook re-design. Plus he’s a local guy (Minneapolis) so I guess that makes him an even better choice.
If you want to check out Ryan Evans, go to www.helpryanevans.com and vote for your right to not change a thing.
35W Bridge Collapse – 1 Year Later
It’s been one year since the 35W bridge gave way and it’s still unbelievable.
WCCO has a great retrospective on the survivors, the responders and others at the scene of the bridge collapse. Especially moving to us is the Coulter family and Paula, whom my wife use to work with. The doctors didn’t think she’d live, let alone walk and talk. It really goes to show you that the impossible is possible.
On Dec. 24th, 2008 the new 35W bridge will open.

To all the responders & rescue crews, the doctors & nurses, the thoughts & prayers and the construction workers bringing the bridge back to life, Thank You.
Minneapolis Aquatennial Fireworks Tonight
If you are in the Minneapolis area, tonight is the best fireworks show you may ever see! The annual Minneapolis Aquatennial fireworks shoot off the Hennepin Avenue bridge over the Mississippi and they are amazing.
With Target as the sponsor, you know it’s going to be good. They have 10,000 pounds of explosives and 45 miles of wire making it the largest of its kind west of the Mississippi!
Get there early though as parking and viewing spots fill up fast! I know we’ll be there!!
