SocialAddict – 11 Social Sites, 1 Adobe Air Application
After my recent success with Plurkit, I decided to take the idea to the next level and add in more social sites. The outcome is SocialAddict which has 11 social sites within one Adobe Air application.
What SocialAddict does is loads the mobile or iPhone version of each site for easy access. Again, I didn’t tie into any APIs or do massive re-construction. These are all previously available applications that have been tied together to make it quick and easy to go from one to the next.
Within SocialAddict you’ll find:
- BrightKite
- FriendFeed To Go
Fluid vs Prism for Desktop Web Applications

When I wrote about Mozilla’s Prism project a while ago, I was very excited for the possibility of bring web applications to the desktop. Since then, a new project called Fluid has popped up. It’s the same ideas as Prism, however is Mac only.
Fluid is a small application that is used to create stand alone applications for web apps. Think of going into your applications folder and seeing Facebook or MySpace. In the end, they are individual web browsers that are created specifically for one website.
I’m So Much Cooler Online
One way or another, everyone capitalizes off the internet. If you’re in the music biz, write a song about it. ![]()
Brad Paisley has written some interesting songs in the past including Ticks, Alcohol & Celebrity and continues his string with one called Online. It’s all about how we mask who we really are on sites like MySpace and become much cooler online.
Now Twittering & Tumbling
I’m now on Twitter and Tumblr and checking them out. I actually signed up for Twitter a long time ago, but never used it. It’s like IM only to a wider audience or so I understand. I don’t really see the point. However, I do have cool Firefox extension that makes Twittering soooo easy. Now I’m really checking it out and giving it a full test drive before giving up. ![]()
I’m also on Tumblr and quite enjoying that. It’s like a scrapbook where you can save sites, images, links and videos. Part blog part social bookmarking. Easy to use and I’m enjoying that. Every time I come across something cool in my feeds, I Tumble it for later.
14 Super Simple Ways to Get Things Done GTD
With everyone so obsessed with getting things done (GTD) I thought I’d share a few easy tips to get started on getting things done today.
- Stop Twittering. Only your stalkers need to know your every move.
- Turn of instant messaging. *bleep* Can you help me? *bleep* Can you fix this. *bleep* Are you ignoring me?
- Stop checking your email every 5 minutes. Email will come as long as you check it, so just ignore it for at least 15 minutes. Props go out to those that can turn it off for an hour.
MySpace Phenomenon
I was watching the local morning news and they were talking about how popular MySpace has become. To me, I don’t really get it.
I have tried MySpace and I didn’t feel it was easy to use or that great. But, then again, maybe I’m just use to the way other sites work as I’ve joined lots of web applications or online communities. Or, maybe I need to just to use it more and fully understand it.
MySpace is around two years old and that blows my mind. How can a site go from zero to huge in such a short time. It really is a phenomenon and a huge success.
