9 Great, Free Mac Applications
To fill sometime between now and my next ‘announcement’, I thought I’d share five nine free Mac apps that make my day easier.
- Firefox – Customizable web browser. I love it.
- Thunderbird – For work Email.
- TextWranger – Great all around text/html editor.
- AOL Radio – XM Radio for free and almost commercial free. Sweet.
- Adium – The only chat application worth having.
- Journler – Best everything app. Text, Video, Audio and much more.
- Quicksilver – Sweet HD search. Like Spotlight only prettier.
- Skype (on a good day) – I use this daily for my work phone however I’m having issues lately.
Dropping Spotlight for Quicksilver
Some people rave and rave about Quicksliver but I haven’t found anything special about until recently. I finally figured out something useful and cool to do with it.
Under 10.3.9, which I still have at work, it acts like Spotlight. It’s an amazingly simple find feature that I bring up with the shortcut Apple+space. It searches mainly Folders, documents and applications and it searchecs fast. I had recently been using Butler to to re-inact Spotlight, but it was much slower.
