While Waiting For Tweetie 2 Mac, Check Out Echofon

A lot of us have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting for Tweetie 2 for the Mac, but it hasn’t come. Whereas Tweetie 1 is very nice, things like list support is missing. So, while waiting for Tweetie 2 for the Mac to arrive, I check out Echofon and haven’t turned back.

Echofon MacEchofon is a really nice Twitter application for the Mac. Like Tweetie 1 and Twitterrific, its kind of free as long as you don’t might a nagging window on startup and the occasional ad; which isn’t that bad. Or you can shell out a few dollars and own it outright.

It’s Time To Take A Social Media Chill Pill

Chill PillI think it’s time we all started thinking less and just enjoyed social media more. I know I for one have to relax a little myself.

You see, I now have all these Twitter followers; like 700, and I try to impress them all. Some are friends, some are co-workers, some are industry professionals, some are celebrities, some are random other people and I worry about what I tweet.

What if someone doesn’t like it? What if I offend someone? Chances are, no one would even notice. They’ll see my tweet and, if they don’t care, they’ll skim right buy it and get on with their overly busy day.

Why Do Twitter Apps On The iPhone Rock, But Are Lacking On the Desktop?

What is it about Twitter apps that are fantastic on the iPhone and lacking on the desktop? Tweetie, Twitterrific and Echofon all rock on the iPhone, but when it comes to the desktop version, they’re all lacking in the latest and greatest Twitter features.

TwitterrificLets start with Twitterrific, if you’ve used it, you know that it doesn’t even have a re-tweet option. I’m not talking about the new fancy one either, I’m talking about just re-posting someone elses tweet with an re: in the front of it. It hasn’t been updated in years and lacks many features. It’d also be nice to separate into tabs DMs, RTs, and have an area for search.

Unlocking the awesome potential of behavioral disorders.

Have you ever wondered the difference between Facebook, Twitter and MySpace?  Well Despair.com has just the answer for you. It seems that Facebook is a combo of narcissism and stalking where MySpace is narcissism and ADHD. Twitter on the other hand has all three! Go Twitter!

Subscribe to Blog On A Stick on Twitter

Tweeter. A Twitter BirdHave you heard? RSS is dead. Well, honestly, I don’t think that will happen anytime soon. Either way, I decided that I might as well create a Twitter account for my blog for those who use Twitter for just about everything.

If you’d like to, you can follow Blog On A Stick on Twitter and get all updates tweeted to you within 30 minutes of the post going live. You can also follow me if you’d like. I’m TwisterMc on Twitter.

Bonus: If you’d like to get alerted about the weather on Twitter, follow, or setup, a Twitter weather account.

How To Decide Who To Follow On Twitter – 9 Tips

With Twitter exploding in popularity in every direction, there are a lot of newbies that will not quite know what’s going on or who to follow. So I decided to write down the 9 things I look at when I determine who to follow on Twitter and who not to follow.

First of all, do not follow everyone who follows you. Some are legit, some are automated, some are spam, and not all of them are worth connecting up with. You get the most out of Twitter if you choose to follow only those who you are really interested in.

14 Mac Only Twitter Applications

There are no shortage of Twitter applications out there. Each client seems to have a slightly different feature set too. I’ve tried a lot of them and below is a list of good Twitter applications that have been built for the Mac.  No Adobe Air suggestions here, and most are available only on the Mac.

Bluebird
Simple and pretty, this app has the ability to be one of the nicest looking Twitter apps.  It also comes with three built in themes which are very nice and supports multiple accounts.  This one is one I haven’t played with much, but am loving it the more I use it.  Only downside so far is no way to distinguish between read and un-read tweets.

See Twice As Much In TwitterFox By Making It Taller.

I’ve recently started using TwitterFox with my work Twitter account.  I love how its compact, looks great and is easy to access.  What I didn’t like was the fact that I could only see 5 recent posts when I had so much more screen space.  So I made it taller.

It just took a few lines of CSS and I was able to double the amount of tweets I could see at once!

Taller TwitterFox

If you’d like to make your TwitterFox window taller, install the Stylish Firefox extension and then head over to userstyles.org and install the Taller TwitterFox style.

Get Weather Alerts via Twitter

Twitter Weather AlertsLets face it, some of us are on Twitter more than we are paying attention to most other forms of communication. We can tell you what was recently blogged, but we sometimes have no idea what’s going on outside our window with the weather. Wouldn’t it be nice to get them to come to you, via Twitter? Now you can.

I’ve used a combination of dlvr.it and Weather.gov weather alert feeds to post updates to Twitter. Now when a storm is coming, I can know!
