We drove past Valleyfair to see if we could see any piles of wood or anything happening with Renagade from the road and couldn’t see anything. We took a picture of Excalibur though though to show everyone what we saw. From what I understand the new coaster should be around here somewhere.

Cedar Point, the sister part of Valleyfair, is opening up their own old west themed coaster in 2007 called Maverick.
Maverick is a steel coaster that has an amazing 95-degree angle drop and has linear synchronous motors to propel the train. Meaning it doesn’t climb slowly up a hill, it races up hills.

Reaching speeds of 70mph with amazing old west themed scenery, Maverick looks to be one amazing ride. Complete with tunnels, twists, upside down twirls and much more.

Maverick is Cedar Points 17th coaster and will open in 2007 in Frontiertown.

Checkout Maverick’s video & animations page to ride the ride.

For the first time since 1976, Valleyfair is building a new wooden rollercoaster; Renegade.

Renegade stands 104 feet tall with drops of 91 feed. Top speeds are 52 mph and the 2 minute ride will take you 3,113 feet around the track. Two high-performance trains will hold 24 people a piece on each wild ride!

Renegade’s location will be towards the back next to Thunder Canyon. This is a spot that really needs some new attention as not many wonder that far back in the park.

“Guests will experience a two minute adventurous ride including a never-before-experienced twisting first drop, a low-to-the-ground high-speed S-turn and a high-speed station fly-by.” – Valleyfair.com

With a cowboy theme, Renegade will surely be a hit for Valleyfair. This coaster also marks the latest in Valleyfair’s string of new rides to keep the park fresh and attractive to visitors. I for one, need to visit Valleyfair in 2007!

Checkout Valleyfair’s official site for videos and the ability to ride the ride!

Valleyfair and radio station Drive 105 are looking for the best band around.

The Battle of the Bands competition is taking place throughout September. Eight bands will compete, four on September 9th and four on 6th, but only two will continue each night making up the final four. The final competition will be September 23rd and only one band can walk away the champion.

Winners get 30 hours of studio time, promotional assistance and get to open for the Ike Reilly Assassination on Friday, October 13th during the Halloween Haunt at ValleySCARE.

Regardless, all bands will get to perform in Valleyfair’s Amphitheater and it’s a great event for any upcoming band.

Details and more information available from the Drive 105 website.

Rumors are flying and people are hoping, but there is no confirmation of a new roller coaster for 2007. Not yet anyway.

Some rumors claim that an inverted coaster is coming, others say a wooden coaster is on it’s way.

Where would they put it? There seems to be some room around Whitewater Water Park; maybe. And the park sure could use some help back by Excalibur. However, the recent trend has the park growing into the parking lot. That’s where Wild Thing and Steel Venom have ended up. Then again, the Power Tower, RipTide and Xtreme Swing have taken over spots held by smaller rides.

If you visit Valleyfair and see anything, do share. :)
