WordPress Feed Stats

There is an amazing feature available for hosted WordPress.com blogs called Feed Stats. It tells you how many people have viewed your feed and what feed readers were used. The bad part? It’s only for WordPress.com blogs.

See a great review of Feed Stats.

I’m hoping that the feed stats feature makes it into all WordPress blogs. The only other option seems to be Feedburner. Personally, I like having my feed URL be part of my site and I don’t want to pay for any additional features.

I wonder why is is that companies can build stats programs left and right, but feed stats programs are barley existent. If I had extra time, I’d mess around with creating a feed stats program, but I’m sure it’s very complex.

So, developers of WordPress, please include the great Feed Stats feature in stand alone version of WordPress too. I think a lot of people would appreciate it.

I believe the authors of the WordPress Plugin for Feed Stats is working on making it available publicly, but it is still in beta testing, with the users of WordPress.com as the testers.

    Stay tuned.
