How I fixed my Feedly Syncing Issues

FeedlyI’ve been having issues with Feedly being out of sync with Google Reader. I had 45 unread TechCrunch items in Google Reader and there were 400+ in Feedly. I waited a few days to see if it’d catch up, it did not. I then contacted support a few days ago and have yet to get a response.

Turns out, I’m no the only one with this issue

I then wanted to just start fresh, and that doesn’t seem to be an option either.

Before doing what I did, backup your Google Reader items. Just in case.

What I eventually had to do was delete all the Feedly items on the web. Then I opened the iPhone app (which I hadn’t opened in weeks) and that brought everything back. I then went back onto the web version and deleted it all again. Confirmed with the iPhone app that all was gone.

After that I went into the Newsify iOS app (previously un-synced with Feedly, but synced with Google Reader) and signed in with Feedly. That then allowed me to import my Google Reader items. When it did this, it marked quite a few things as un-read that were previously read, but it was way better than what I had.

A bit of cleanup and I was good. Not prefect, but I called it a win.

The major issue is that Feedly Cloud seems to have stopped syncing with Google Reader which makes moving to Feedly very hard if the user has been using it before Feedly Cloud.

If you’ve got this issue, you have only a day or two to fix it. The good news is it’s not that hard, it’s just annoying.
