Recently our garage door started being really finicky. It’d start to close, then go right backup as if something tripped the sensor. Turns out something was; the sun.
To fix it, I simply took a paint stir stick that I found in my garage and placed it on top of the sensor making sure the sensor lens was completely in the shadow. Fix time, 10 seconds.
It’s worked like a charm every day for the past month. No more confused garage door.
Don’t have a stir stick? Then place anything on it to give your sensor a shadow. Just make sure to test the system after you place something on top of the sensor. We don’t want to disable it, just keep the sun out of its eyes.
