We are headed to a hotel in the upcoming weeks and everyone wants to take the baby swimming, but is that ok? How old do they have to be before they can hop into the pool?
Obviously they can’t go underwater or be unsupervised, but can they just sit in dads arms and kick the water?
We did Google it a little bit and some parents say they put their 2 month old in the pool while other say they have to be at least 6 months old before hopping into the water.
I’m guessing that it’s ok as long as you pay close attention to your baby and take them out if you’re concerned about anything.
Any thoughts?
Our son started swimming before the age of one. With love you bob them, they cough to get the water out, then on the third time they keep their mouths close and their eyes open. Today Jeffrey is a lifeguard at Waimea Bay surf spot in Hawaii. We love him. You’re a good dad.
Thanks for the reply. Lily will be 6 months when she test out the waters. Probably won’t do much more than get her feet wet.
I’d be cautions with a baby under 6 months old, strickly because they’re body may not be able to fight certain germs that may be in a pool, especially a public pool like one at a hotel. As long you’re careful to keep the water away from their face and give them a bath afterwards, you shouldn’t have anything to worry about.
We have a doctors appointment the day before we go, so we’ll be sure to ask.
My son is 4 months old and he went to the pool today for the first time and he loved it and it did no harm to him just go to the store and buy him a baby float that will only let his body be in the water and he’ll be fine.
I don’t think it’s dangerous – I was in the water from about 3 months and have never looked back. Anyway… babies swimming is so cute, you have to do it at least once for the photo ops. 🙂
