Lily really wanted to go on a bike ride today so I agreed to. She wanted to ride to school which is about one mile away and that didn’t sound too bad at all. However, on the way to school she took a right turn onto the Luce Line Trail and we were off on an adventure.
Lily was full of energy and she just wanted to keep going. We stopped for a few breaks but she kept telling me she didn’t want to turn around. I tried to nicely remind her that if we went until she got tired, we’d then still need to bike home, but that didn’t phase her.
At about 6.5 miles out, she decided she was starting to get a little tired so maybe we should turn around. Turns out that by ‘a little tired’ she meant she was pretty much out of energy. We took lots of breaks on the way back and she complained a little, but not a lot. Coming home took a while, but we made it.
I’m so proud of how far we biked today and how well she pushed through the tiredness on the way back. 13 miles is a long bike ride for me, let alone a 7-year-old. Chances are, come morning, she’ll be re-energized and I’ll be sore and tired.
