What Has Blogging Given Me?

TwisterMc Logo ShadowA while ago, Just Shattuck posted a topic about what blogging has given him. At the end, he poked me to do the same. Even though I’m a bit slow, I’m still going to respond. 🙂

Blogging has given me quite a bit. It gives me the chance to get my voice heard. Some of my posts have helped people from getting scammed or let others know that they are not alone when accidentally erasing an iPod. Some agree with my views while others think I’m full of crap. I love interaction and I love the fact that I can just be myself.

Blogging is also great for project feedback. I don’t think my Firefox themes would be quite as good if it weren’t for all the comments, praises and tips that readers have left. Building an online environment of readers is great and something that I hope continues to grow.

And lets not forget the money! Ok, so I don’t make much money from blogging, actually I think the more money I make, the more I have to put back in to hosting. That’s the way it goes, but something I’m still happy to be doing.

Blogging has also given me quite a bit of exposure in my field. Buy building the Chicklet Creator and Social Bookmark Creator, I’ve started to make a name for myself. This not only helps me personally but also in my job. I really like creating useful tools for bloggers and if you have any ideas, do drop them off.

There is also the knowledge. Blogging, plugins and hacking templates keeps me up-to-date on coding, design and just how blogs work overall. These are tools and skills that I can use every day in my job.

Blogging isn’t going to make me rich, or bring me fame and fortune anytime soon. But it does make me happy. When I get a comment and hear that I helped someone out or that they enjoy what I write it keeps me going. Sure, not all my topics are gold, but that’s the fun in blogging; you don’t have to be great all of the time. 🙂

    Thomas,

About time you got something posted, I was starting to wonder if you were even a real individual and not a mere shell script resting on a linux platform somewhere. Glad to see blogging, none-the-less makes you happy!

Keep writing, and I’ll keep reading 🙂

Shell script? Linux platform? That’s a tad geeky for me. 😀

Hey, Thomas. Thanks for passing that on to me, but my blog’s been kind of on the back-burner for the past year, so I really couldn’t come up with enough for a whole blog post.

Blogging has given me the chance to experience the internet as a contributing presence, not just a spectator. It has taught me the “languages behind the magic”, as I now have a firm understanding of HTML, XHTML, and CSS. And, it has allowed me to keep in touch with distant friends, both old and new.
