So we finally got a Wii on Thursday of this week and we have been addictive ever since. It comes with the games Wii sports which includes Golf, Boxing, Baseball, Bowling, and Tennis and I’m not a big sports buff but I thought I would try it out and much to my surprise it was a ton of fun. You hold the Wii remote like you would a bat or a golf club and swing it just like you would if you were playing a real game. You can get really into these games and get a good workout from them. I think this was the smartest thing Nintendo could do in this day and age where all the kids are getting obese from sitting around and playing video games. Instead now they actually have to move around. I think this could grab people of all age ranges because its very easy to use and its a ton of fun.

I-Cat & Sims 2-Pets
I got some great Christmas presents this year. Two of them I didn’t really know how exactly I would like them but they are turning out pretty cool. I got an I-Cat. This is a little mechanical cat that you can hook your MP3 player up to it and it will be speakers for it. It also does a light/dance show in time with the music. If you don’t want to have your ipod playing it will just act like a cat asking for attention with lights, meowing, purring when you pet its face etc. Its cool, as I was never really sure what it did but thought it looked cool.
Next I got the Sims 2 Pets in Game Cube which I’m completely and utterly addicted to. The only problem is I’ve needed to revive my cats and dogs a couple of times…. I guess I’m a bad pet owner or something. I think in that game you can only have 2 pets otherwise its just too many. Any tips/cheats or fellow users I would love to hear from you. Its fun because you get to lead your normal Sims life but you get to have pets which are good/bad just like in real life. When they pee on the floor thats not good. The one good thing is that they show you want they want in little bubbles, like when they want to have puppies or kittens they show a stork carrying a baby. Anyways like I said I’m completely addicted and would recommend both gifts to anyone!
Where’s the snow?
Well I live in Minnesota and I am one of the few that actually look forward to it snowing. Now mind you I don’t look forward to the driving in snow but it doesn’t feel like my birthday or Christmas until it actually snows. So where is it? They say its going to be 40 degrees here in the cities…. well since apparently I’m not going to get snow for my birthday (which is next week) let’s at least hope for some for Christmas!!!
Christmas Wishes-Target, Wal-Mart, Macys
Last year Target, Wal-Mart and Macys all decided they were not going to wish anyone Merry Christmas or have Christmas trees. Instead they decided they were were Holiday trees and were going to wish everyone Happy Holidays. My husband thought it was pretty ridiculous because Christmas Trees are Christmas Trees and they can’t just decide to change the name because it might offend someone. My personal opinion is I can understand a store like that saying Happy Holidays rather than Merry Christmas because there is all different religious holidays that happens in December besides Christmas that most stores don’t sell anything for or think of because the majority of the population is Christian. I wouldn’t be offended if someone told me Happy Hanukkah! But I can see people of the Jewish (or other) faith becoming tired of everyone just focusing on Christmas. What do you think?
Snow- Christmas Spirit
Yesterday we drove down to Mankato, MN and they had gotten 7.5 inches of snow the day before. We only live an hour away and had gotten zero inches of snow. Once I see snow every year the Christmas spirit starts kicking into overdrive. So of course yesterday when we went to Wal-mart we had to go through the Christmas aisles. Now what I’m looking for is ideas for different Christmas themed items, cool Christmas wallpaper for my desktop, good Christmas music (SheDaisy’s Christmas album is one of our favorites), Christmas recipes (cookies and otherwise), Christmas traditions (we always watch Love Actually & set up our fake tree together with Christmas music, and drink Hot Cocoa with Creme De Menthe). Anything you do for Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, or other I would love to hear about (I don’t know much about the different holiday traditions besides Christmas and would love to know more).
Country Music Takes Over
I read an article today in the paper about how Country Music is now number one in popularity. Artists such as Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney, and Sugarland now is bringing in more and more fans especially in the 16-24 year old age group. Apparently Country Music has not been this big since Garth Brook’s popularity. It said that most people listen to country anymore because of the message that usually can be found in most songs plus its usually family friendly. Rap and Rock usually does not have a message or story in their music but country does which people can relate to in these turbulent times. Even the Dixie Chicks who thumbed their noses at their fans, the president and radio stations sold 2 million copies on their last album. This really does not surprise me that much as I have always liked the fact that you can find something to relate to in country music, it makes you feel unlike some!
ABC TV Online
Last night there were two shows I wanted to watch on TV at the same time, The OC and Grey’s Anatomy. I couldn’t decide and was excited when my husband informed me that you could watch Grey’s Anatomy online. I did that tonight. This was the first time I have watched a TV show online and I have to say there are good points and bad points.
Bad Points:
1. Pixely
2. Still has “commercial breaks”
3. Only select shows
Good Points:
1. If you miss an episode it is there for you to see.
2. The “commercials” are only 30 second breaks (you have a timer in the corner and can go back even if the commercial isn’t completed)
3. Didn’t take much time to load and I ran into very little problems with having to stop and reload.
Overall I would give it two thumbs up and would definitely use it again in the future!
Pulmonary Embolism
So I went from slowly re-learning how to walk again with my broken ankle to now last week I was hospitalized again this time for a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lungs). The past 5 days I have been in the hospital from clots in both of my lungs major ones in my left side and clots in my right leg. This all resulted from the combination of having surgery on my broken leg and the fact that I use birth control. So now for the rest of my life I will be off birth control and for the next 6 months I will be on Coumadin (blood thinners) and have a different diet. Well thats the update for now I go from one hospitalization to the next. My personal opinion right now is I’m ready to be done with hospitals but yet I’m very thankful as it could have been alot worse in the long run!
Apple Stores-Discrimination Against Women
My co-worker informed me the other day of something that astounded me. She informed me that she hates going to Apple stores (loves the products but hates the stores). I asked her why that was and she told me it was because she feels they discriminate against women. So I asked her to explain herself.
Just the other day she went into the Apple Store in Southdale Mall in Edina, MN to buy a radio/speaker set for her iPod. She had tried one before and it made her iPod music too radio sounding. Therefore she decided that she would go to an actual Apple store where she could ask what was causing this and what set they would recommend. She was willing to spend whatever amount on it to find a good one.
She went in one evening, there were 4 males working and no one else in the store. She was not greeted but went on her way to look. She found the area that she was looking for and wasn’t sure which to get and so looked over at a clerk for assistance. They ignored her. So she just decided on one and figured she would ask about it when she went to check out, figuring they would have to give her service then. But instead when she tried to ask her question they just replied that it will happen on all systems and just told her to pick one. She finished her purchase and left.
After that I asked her if this was the only time and the only store this had happened at. To which she replied this had happened at both the Mall of America Store and Southdale store on several different occasions. The only time she had actually received service was when she went to the Mall of America store and her friend was working. Of course then she received lots of attention.
I have never been in an Apple store without my husband so I don’t if what she is saying would happen to everyone but its happened enough times to my co-worker to raise a voice or a concern. It is terribly if this is what is truly happening at the Apple stores to twenty-some aged women.
I can walk again!
After 3 long months I can walk again! I can where two shoes again and where pants again. For those of you this hasn’t happened to you have no idea how much the little things mean! I still have a limp as I try and reteach myself to walk, I have a nice size scar and my foot is still really swollen but you know what who cares I can walk!
