Taking Chances with Dreamhost

I’m taking the chance on Dreamhost hosting. I’ve read the good the bad and the ugly, however I’m still checking it out.

Actually, I’ve used Dreamhost for another site in the past and it hasn’t been bad at all. So maybe it’s the unusually high amount of traffic the site gets that makes a big difference. Who knows.

No, TwisterMc.com is not moving from ASmallOrange hosting. I love ASmallOrange and I just need more space and bandwidth for some items that are causing issues. So I decided to check out Dreamhost as they have unbelievably high monthly bandwidths (2 TB+) and storage (200MB+) for a small price. Less than $3 a month actually with the promo code SRVR87.

By offloading a few items to my new Dreamhost account, I’ll hopefully increase the reliability and speed of TwisterMc.com.

I been with Dreamhost for about 3 months and so far no complaints. They have everything on that I need and have to say that whilst the control panel is BUTT ugly it works and saves some time with bulk edit features.

I think you will be happy. I have stores, forums and other DB stuff running no problems.

yeah – I had a look last night and I am running 11 domains off one account – it makes it a breeze when all your accounts are in one FTP folder. No more having 3 windows open at a time and trying to remember which is which!

I looked at them this week also, only because they offer webdav support and Im look for alternatives to dotMac

my only thought to anyone looking at playing with fun stuff like that is to remember it is still a very very shared environment. So getting to play with the fun stuff can be impossible….but this is true of any virtual host I guess.

They are one of the handful of hosts that do at a reasonable price.

I use one account with Bluehost for testing and find it a bit slow though? I have wondered if it is my firewall or the server. If you find it good then maybe it is my firewall.
