First time in a hotel and in a swimming pool.

Over the weekend our baby girl Lily got to experience her first time in a hotel and the first time swimming!

We were worried about swimming due to the chlorine in the pool and her only being 6 months old, but our doctor said it was OK so into the pool we went.

Lily didn’t mind the water, but she didn’t love it; she really didn’t have an opinion either way. To us, this was a success. As long as she didn’t scream or cry, it’s a positive experience in my book.

Mom, dad and grandma took turns holding her in the pool. We started by dipping her toes in the water and then progressively dipped her further in. Most of the time she was in the water up to her waist but we did get her wet up to her chin. Sometimes we’d let her float in one spot, sometimes we’d drag her feet through the water and she even got splashed a few times; by accident.

Like I said, she didn’t love the water, but she didn’t cry either. So for the first time in a pool, I think this was good. I actually think she was more concerned with the other people and noise around the pool.

The hotel she didn’t mind either, especially since we brouht quite a few of her toys along. And when I say a few, like a dozen. Mom and dad need to get use to traveling with a baby, but for now, we took quite a bit of stuff.

The hotel also had a portable crib that we could use which was nice. It wasn’t a crib though, it was more of a pack and play. Lily didn’t seep well in it, but she did sleep a little. I think the unknown room and sleeping arrangement put her on edge a little so we had her sleep part of the time in our bed with us.

Overall, she did a good job for the first time at a hotel. We were concerned how it’d all go, but things went smoothly and I think she kind of liked it.

Of course, once she got home she was happier and slept better. But don’t we all?

So where are the pictures? Good question. I had forgotten my camera so Grandpa S used his. Unfortunately I’m not sure when I’ll get those pictures. Hopefully soon.

I remember the first time my son went into the swimming pool, (he was only 4 months old), but I will never forget his face. It was such a picture!
