Wii-Interative fun for all ages

So we finally got a Wii on Thursday of this week and we have been addictive ever since.  It comes with the games Wii sports which includes Golf, Boxing, Baseball, Bowling, and Tennis and I’m not a big sports buff but I thought I would try it out and much to my surprise it was a ton of fun.  You hold the Wii remote like you would a bat or a golf club and swing it just like you would if you were playing a real game.  You can get really into these games and get a good workout from them.  I think this was the smartest thing Nintendo could do in this day and age where all the kids are getting obese from sitting around and playing video games.  Instead now they actually have to move around.  I think this could grab people of all age ranges because its very easy to use and its a ton of fun.

I-Cat & Sims 2-Pets

I got some great Christmas presents this year.  Two of them I didn’t really know how exactly I would like them but they are turning out pretty cool.  I got an I-Cat.  This is a little mechanical cat that you can hook your MP3 player up to it and it will be speakers for it.  It also does a light/dance show in time with the music.  If you don’t want to have your ipod playing it will just act like a cat asking for attention with lights, meowing, purring when you pet its face etc.  Its cool, as I was never really sure what it did but thought it looked cool.

Next I got the Sims 2 Pets in Game Cube which I’m completely and utterly addicted to.  The only problem is I’ve needed to revive my cats and dogs a couple of times…. I guess I’m a bad pet owner or something.  I think in that game you can only have 2 pets otherwise its just too many.  Any tips/cheats or fellow users I would love to hear from you.  Its fun because you get to lead your normal Sims life but you get to have pets which are good/bad just like in real life.  When they pee on the floor thats not good.  The one good thing is that they show you want they want in little bubbles, like when they want to have puppies or kittens they show a stork carrying a baby.  Anyways like I said I’m completely addicted and would recommend both gifts to anyone!

Cats & Christmas Tree Deterrents

Well its happened… last weekend we went away and came back and hmmm our Christmas tree had tipped over.  We have never had this happen even though our small cat, Sassy loves to climb the tree and sleep in it.  Last year we tried a boundary spray and we thought that it worked but after having to do it twice a day and it does not smell pretty let me tell you, it was not the best.  Especially because it would only deter our cats for about 15 minutes.  Any ideas from you cat owners out there about ways to keep our cats away from the tree?  Right now we use water but that only works until you get presents and then you don’t want to drench them.  We’ve tried foil that did nothing.  Any ideas I would greatly appreciate!!!

Where’s the snow?

Well I live in Minnesota and I am one of the few that actually look forward to it snowing.  Now mind you I don’t look forward to the driving in snow but it doesn’t feel like my birthday or Christmas until it actually snows.  So where is it?  They say its going to be 40 degrees here in the cities…. well since apparently I’m not going to get snow for my birthday (which is next week) let’s at least hope for some for Christmas!!!

Christmas Wishes-Target, Wal-Mart, Macys

Last year Target, Wal-Mart and Macys all decided they were not going to wish anyone Merry Christmas or have Christmas trees. Instead they decided they were were Holiday trees and were going to wish everyone Happy Holidays. My husband thought it was pretty ridiculous because Christmas Trees are Christmas Trees and they can’t just decide to change the name because it might offend someone. My personal opinion is I can understand a store like that saying Happy Holidays rather than Merry Christmas because there is all different religious holidays that happens in December besides Christmas that most stores don’t sell anything for or think of because the majority of the population is Christian. I wouldn’t be offended if someone told me Happy Hanukkah! But I can see people of the Jewish (or other) faith becoming tired of everyone just focusing on Christmas. What do you think?

Snow- Christmas Spirit

Yesterday we drove down to Mankato, MN and they had gotten 7.5 inches of snow the day before.  We only live an hour away and had gotten zero inches of snow.  Once I see snow every year the Christmas spirit starts kicking into overdrive.  So of course yesterday when we went to Wal-mart we had to go through the Christmas aisles.  Now what I’m looking for is ideas for different Christmas themed items, cool Christmas wallpaper for my desktop, good Christmas music (SheDaisy’s Christmas album is one of our favorites), Christmas recipes (cookies and otherwise), Christmas traditions (we always watch Love Actually & set up our fake tree together with Christmas music, and drink Hot Cocoa with Creme De Menthe).  Anything you do for Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, or other I would love to hear about (I don’t know much about the different holiday traditions besides Christmas and would love to know more).

Country Music Takes Over

I read an article today in the paper about how Country Music is now number one in popularity.  Artists such as Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney, and Sugarland now is bringing in more and more fans especially in the 16-24 year old age group.  Apparently Country Music has not been this big since Garth Brook’s popularity.  It said that most people listen to country anymore because of the message that usually can be found in most songs plus its usually family friendly.  Rap and Rock usually does not have a message or story in their music but country does which people can relate to in these turbulent times.  Even the Dixie Chicks who thumbed their noses at their fans, the president and radio stations sold 2 million copies on their last album.  This really does not surprise me that much as I have always liked the fact that you can find something to relate to in country music, it makes you feel unlike some!

ABC TV Online

Last night there were two shows I wanted to watch on TV at the same time, The OC and Grey’s Anatomy.  I couldn’t decide and was excited when my husband informed me that you could watch Grey’s Anatomy online.  I did that tonight.  This was the first time I have watched a TV show online and I have to say there are good points and bad points.

Bad Points:

1.  Pixely

2.  Still has “commercial breaks”

3.  Only select shows

Good Points:

1.  If you miss an episode it is there for you to see.

2.  The “commercials” are only 30 second breaks (you have a timer in the corner and can go back even if the commercial isn’t completed)

3.  Didn’t take much time to load and I ran into very little problems with having to stop and reload.

Overall I would give it two thumbs up and would definitely use it again in the future!

What does your Cat’s Name Mean?

Have you ever wondered what the most popular cat names are? Or how about you just want some suggestions on what to name a cat? Or you would like to know what your cat name means? Well if so I have the site for you its called Kitty Names.  This site will tell you exactly what your cats name means and it will give you a suggestion for different cat names in categories such as movie stars, drinks, and personality.  For mine I didn’t have to worry Sassy fits her personality name and my other kitty chunk also fits his name but its fun to get ideas for a new animal.
