Announcing Tinseltown - Holiday Firefox Theme

I’ve just released my latest Firefox theme called Tinseltown. It’s a Christmas theme to help decorate your desktop with a bit of holiday joy.

It’s hard to believe that last year my idea of a Christmas Firefox theme was to put a background image behind the toolbar. My theme knowledge was non-existent. Fast forward one year and Tinseltown is by far my most complete, and possibly best looking, theme that I’ve created.

I’m very proud of some of the features and imagery in Tinseltown. It all started with the want to create a holiday theme and all fell into place in a very short time. WatiWorks was nice enough to let me use some of their free icons for the theme too and they make it look even better!

I’m very pleased to be releasing Tinseltown and I hope everyone enjoys it half as much as I do.

More information on Tinseltown.

Hi, I just wanted to ask if the Tinseltown theme will work with Firefox 1.5.0.8?
I had such an ordeal upgrading from Internet Explorer 6 to IE 7 that I decided I’d wait for FF to deliver FF 2.0 through automatic updates, and by that time any issues would be fixed.
I’ve been looking for a holiday theme and this looks great.

Hi, I installed Tinseltown on my Firefox 2 version in Kubuntu Linux, and now FF craps out on me with a Segmentation fault. Any ideas?

- Richard

Is there a Tinseltown for Thunderbird. I think the theme is great.

- Alice

C. Vaughn - No Tinseltown Firefox 1.5 support as I’d probably have to re-do everything. The upgrade to FF2 should go off without a hitch as I’ve seen very few issues in general. The ones I do see people complaining about are mostly minor.

- Thomas

Richard - I emailed you separately, I need some Linux testers to help me fix the issue.

Alice- Thunderbird would be nice, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon. Sorry.

- Thomas

Ok! But I am still thrilled to death with Tinseltown for Firefox. Everything looks and works great.

Thanks for your time and effort,
Alice

Nicely done! Most of these holiday themes are butt-ugly, but this one looks very professional. I’d love to see a Thunderbird version.

- Dave

Thunderbird isn’t on the schedule and Christmas is coming fast. :)

I downloaded Firefox 2.0 and tried to install Tinseltown but when I try to install it, it tells me that it is not compatible with 1.5.8? I even checked my “About” and I am running 2.0! HELP!

- Kalisa

Kalisa - I’m not sure what to tell you there. It sounds like a Firefox issue not a Tinseltown issue. Try running Firefox’s auto update and see if it comes up with anything.

- Thomas

I downloaded Tinseltown and to install it keeps saying that the jar file is invalid or corrupt. Java won’t install. What do I need to do.

- Paula

Paula - You shouldn’t need to install anything. Just click on the link on Mozilla’s addon page and it should install. If that doesn’t work, follow the instructions for a manual install above the install button on the addons page. :)
