After my recent success with Plurkit, I decided to take the idea to the next level and add in more social sites. The outcome is SocialAddict which has 11 social sites within one Adobe Air application.
What SocialAddict does is loads the mobile or iPhone version of each site for easy access. Again, I didn’t tie into any APIs or do massive re-construction. These are all previously available applications that have been tied together to make it quick and easy to go from one to the next.
Within SocialAddict you’ll find:
- BrightKite
- FriendFeed To Go
- Hellotxt
- Jaiku
- MySpace
- Ping.fm
- Plurk
- Pownce
- SocialThing
- and Twitter
Requirements: Adobe Air & a social media account or five. All Free.
Have suggestions for other sites? Let me know the iPhone/mobile version of the site and I’ll add it in.
awwwe thanks. it’s like friendfeed for your desktop. i’m going to die of distractions overload addiction (doa). my choice, or is it?
wow, great gizmo! 🙂
will there be a way to disable some of the sites we don’t use?
Great idea; I love it! Thanks for creating this application. I look forward to seeing it evolve over time. You should include your Adobe AIR apps in the Creations section of your website. 😉
Awesome App!
I love this! Thank you so much for building it. Now if you can just make it into a Firefox Add-on that pops-out on demand, that would be something I would use everyday! 🙂
I twas thinking of that Stephen
I would LOVE to see this as a Firefox extension
See my this post and you can see how to add it to your sidebar.
Please please.. make it also work on Linux 🙁
Cool tool! I’m taking it for a spin. Found this post via Friendfeed, BTW
This is so great! Just what I needed. Thanks.
Sorry, it is simply a web browser inside a Adobe Air App with Tabs … Twhirl works better
Hi Chacha102 – Twhirl works great with Twitter and twitter services but it doesn’t tie in other social services. Yes, SocialAddict isn’t as cool as Twhirl but it’s not really to be compared.
Hmmm, am I the only one who can’t even unzip this download on Mac OS X.5.4? The default Archive Utility creates a .GCZP file (whatever that is) and Stuffit Expander says the archive is corrupt. Bizarre…
Never mind, Safari adds the extension .zip for some reason that I don’t even wish to understand. Just deleting the .zip extension enables the installer to execute.
Hello
Think you can integrate this site in your application ?

Testing this out after seeing it here – http://thepuckwrites.com/social-media/ten-steps-social-media/ – looks very promising. Thanks for this!
Just wanted to come back AFTER downloading this thing. You’re a genius for this!! Great job, love it! All the services I love right in one app. Can’t get any better than that!
Good to hear. 🙂
Wow good integration. i am downloading this.
Excellent to see more tools tacking the issue of Social Media fragmentation. More aggregation please, let’s maximise the quality time we spend on Social Media…
Hi Thomas! I LOVE this Air app! Thanks so much for creating it — and thanks to Debra for letting me know about it.
Thanks for all the feedback!
This seems like a great app. I especially like the Ping.fm integration! Unfortunately I can’t use it since it doesn’t support Laconica / Identi.ca”. Will you consider adding support for it sometime soon? That would be awesome! It has a Twitter compatible API so it should only be a matter of exchanging the URL to the API in the Twitter part of your code, and adding the appropriate tab.
Awesome air application – thanks!
I second what borge has to say above. Though I use almost all of the services you offer, it would be great if you could also integrate identi.ca into the mix as well. For me, this is the only thing that your great application lacks. Thanks for all your work on this!
Can we get Rejaw added to this great app?
Does Rejaw have a mobile version?
It’s great! Do you have something that works like this but enables multi profile login? 🙂
Any plans to add other sites (kwippy, identi.ca, etc.)??
wonderful tools thx
i enjoy twitter and plurk
Thanks so much for this app. It is the only one I could find for brightkite!
Thanks! gut text
Tried to open but got an adobe message saying this program uses an older version of Adobe Air that is no longer supported.
Thanks for letting me know Randy. I’ll have to look into that.
Version 1.2 of Social Addict is now available.
As far as I know socialAddict is an application that brings together the mobile version of multiple social networking sites for quick and easy access and it is available for your desktop via Adobe Air or on the web. Is there any available mobile version for this? It will really be awesome if there will be any..
There was a web version but it’s no longer working well.
