Twilight Movie Widget

As most of you may already know I’m addicted to the Twilight series.  In fact I just finished the fourth book in the series Breaking Dawn which surprised me but I actually thoroughly enjoyed it.  The next thing to look forward to in this series is the movie which comes out on 11/21/2008.  I’m very intrigued with it to see how much like the book it is.  I have seen several previews and it looks really good!  My husband being the tech-savvy guy that he is was nice enough to create me a widget to countdown to the movie.  Nothing fancy but for all of us out there looking forward to the movie I thought I would share this!  Enjoy!!

Breaking Dawn Widget

I have written before that I was totally addicted to the Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer.  Well in August the fourth book in the series comes out called Breaking Dawn.  I think this is the last book in the series and I have already pre-ordered mine as I can’t wait to read it.  My husband was kind enough to created me a cool countdown widget to anticipate this book.  I encourage any and all who are addicted to this series to pre-order the book and get the widget!!!

Walt Disney World-Not just for Kids!!!

When looking for a place to vacation there is a allot to consider (enough to do, too much to do, how long you are going for, etc).  So when we decided to plan a week long vacation we narrowed it down to four spots (limited because I haven’t gotten my passport yet:) Much to my husbands dismay).  We had it narrowed down to San Diego (I have been there before and loved it), San Antonio (neither of us have been there but we have heard rave reviews), Colorado (I have been to parts and loved it and my brother was out there and so could recommend great places to go), and Walt Disney World (I had never been).  We kept tossing and turning around ideas but finally after reassurance from my husband that we would still have fun even though it usually more of a family place we decided to go to Walk Disney World.

We were both very excited since its not too often you get a week off from work but yet I was still a little nervous that it would be a little young for us (OK maybe not us since my husband is a total kid at heart but at least me).  I have to say though after going it is allot of fun!  I would actually recommend going to people who don’t have kids just because once you get kids its allot of work and allot of money.  (I can’t even imagine).  We went for a week and there was still allot that we didn’t get to.  Here’s my breakdown of the parks:

Magic Kingdom:  Definitely for the young at heart or just the young, they try to get a few rides for the older crowd too (Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Big Thunder Mountain Roller Coaster, and Space Mountain) but still probably the mildest of the parks.

Epcot:  This would probably be my second favorite park, its got a few rides for the older crowd (Mission Space, Test Track) plus its got the World which is kind of cool, food and drinks from all over the world…. this is definitely themed for the older crowd with alcohol flowing freely and food to your hearts content.

Hollywood Studios:  This was probably my favorite park even though its the smallest.  It has the most mature rides or shows of any of the Disney Parks.  Some of my favorites were Tower of Terror, Rocking Roller Coaster, Stunt Show.

Animal Kingdom:  I think I got a bad impression of this park and so I’m not the best to review but here’s what I know and why I’m biased:  It was PACKED the day we went there hard to even move amongst so many people plus half way through the day it started to downpour and did so for at least an hour.  I did love the safari though that was a blast and its a huge park that I think we could have spent more time there.

Non-Disney Park:

Universal Studios:  I liked this park although wish I would have gone to Island of Adventure instead (its sister park).  This park had allot of fun shows (Fear Factor, Shrek 4-D, Twister, Disaster) but its hours were shorter and the two parks are right next to each other but you have to pay 70 dollars per adult per park to get in which is awfully pricey for the size of the park.  Island of Adventure was more of the roller coaster park and so I think we would have really enjoyed it.  The one ride that was really cool even though it had an extremely long wait for was the Simpson’s Ride which opened up shortly before we got there.

Places we didn’t make it but I would have liked to:

Sea World, Islands of Adventure, Kennedy Space Center, The Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach.

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside which I also highly recommend for adults without kids along (Old southern styled mansions, 7 pools, etc).  If you stay at the Disney Resorts make sure to partake in there mean plan as you get way more food then you can possibly eat and definitely worth the money!!

So that’s the synopsis….. allot of fun but now I’m back at work….. sad!!

Broken ankle-2 years later

Well I just thought I would let everyone know that almost exactly two years ago I had a trimaellor ankle break which I never thought I would walk again from.  Slowly over the past two years I have re-learned to walk and run on it.  It has gotten better with time.  Two weeks ago I decided to see how healed it was.  We went to Disney World.  Which if you don’t know you walk ALOT….. As I told my husband this was a great test to see how it would hold up to all this walking.  It did amazingly well.  There was only one time that it twinged enough with pain that I took an hour break to put it up.  Otherwise I just kept going and it was fine we went to all the park (even some twice all day long for one week and it held up really well.  It still gets swollen here and there and it still lets me know its not perfect but I figure since I still have metal down there and since it was hanging off my ankle at one point I can’t complain.

Crispy M&M’s are back-Kind of!!!

I don’t know about all of you but I wasn’t very happy when Crispy M&M’s disappeared off of the shelves.  They were so good.  So yesterday when we were at the grocery store I was looking at the M&M’s as my husband is a fanatic about M&M’s and I saw a new kind for the Indiana Jones movie.  They were called Mint Crisp.  I thought hmmm you think they are anything like crispy M&M’s?  So we bought a package.  They are Crispy M&M’s only in mint and they are so good!  For all those of you out there who miss crispy M&M’s and like mint I would definitely recommend these!

Earth Hour should be done once a week at least

Last night between 8-9 people all over the world participated in Earth Hour.  This is where for the one hour people and business turned off all of their lights and some people and places even turned off everything electrical.  We participated in this turning off everything including turning off the heat and turning off our computers.  We then lighted candles and played games.  It was actually kind of relaxing not having all of the electrical appliances running.  We decided that people should try this at least once a week.  I mean its not hard to shut everything down for one hour once a week.  Think of the positives to this.  My only question is, is it better for the environment to turn on a light or to light several candles(scented or not)?  Just a thought.

Netflix Review

We have had Netflix for 4 months now and I have to say we are thoroughly impressed.  We are on the 2 unlimited plan and it works out well.  I thought I would tell you the positives and negatives (at least what I have seen in my short experience).  When you first start up the movies arrive extremely fast and always the ones at the very top of your queue.  After you have been a member for a while (probably about a month) the top ones aren’t usually the ones that you receive.  This could of course be because I have a big list of movies I want to see that you can choose from.  Sometimes they will ship from locations farther away I’m in Minneapolis so we have a shipping area here but sometimes we get them from Kansas or New York.  If that happens in my experience it takes about twice as long for the movies to get there.  Although I do have to say most of the time my movies have been received within a day and the next sent out within a day of being received.  Plus every movie that I have looked for has been in there including tv series and the old movies that you can’t find at the movie store anymore.  I think the website is very easy to use and I love that they recommend movies based off of your reviews of the movies you have watched.  Sometimes you find a movie that you absolutely love.  Sometimes not so much.  Anyways thats my two cents for the day!  What do you all think?

Problems with Blog

I have realized that over the past few days I have had several problems with my blog; including losing all my comments (which we have resolved), the blog disappearing and other fun things.  We are hopefully working to resolve this but in the meantime I apologize that this has been happening and I wanted to let you know we are working on this!  Thanks for your patience!  Christi

Stephenie Meyer- Twilight Series

A few months ago I was told by a co-worker that the Twilight series was a very addicting series.  I thought about getting it but it had a long waiting list at the library and I didn’t want to buy it if I wasn’t going to like it.  Then at Christmas my husband gave me the first book in the series.  After the first couple of chapters I couldn’t put the book down.  The next day I told my husband that we had to go buy the second and third book.  By the end of Christmas week I had read all of the three books.  I loved the story and can’t wait until the fourth book comes out and the movie comes out.  I have always loved reading but these books really sucked me in.  I think it was a combination of the romance, action, supernatural and more parts of the story.  It had a little of everything in there and if you ever get the chance I would HIGHLY recommend these books to anyone!  I will probably end up reading all of them again before the fourth book comes out in the fall.

Changing your Job-What’s the fastest way to find a new job?

So on Monday I decided that it was time to change my job (problems at my current employer).  Therefore I gave my notice on Monday for two weeks.  I had been working at a Non-Profit as a Financial Reporting Manager.  Normally when I have done this before I have always found a job before giving my notice but this time I wasn’t able to do that.  I am working with a recruiter from Robert Half and I’m searching on Career Builder and Monster.  Does any one have any other ideas as to ways to find a job.  I’m definitely not desperate for a new job as I am planning on not starting at least until January 3rd but I just want to cover all my bases!  Any advice I would appreciate!
